I think it would be inconsiderate of JH toward UT and their financial situation to dismiss Steele and have to pay him for his salary which I believe was about $950,000. He could be a valuable asset on the defensive side.
I don't usually agree with Finebaum but yesterday, he said that if the NCAA comes down hard on Tn after they did the right thing , then there will be no incentive for another team to address infractions on their own. That makes sense.
With the loss in revenue due to Covid, I doubt he will be given a blank check unless there are some generous donors. I would think he will have a budget of about 4 million +or - $500,000 depending on experience.
One coach that can do all that you've said and get the most out of the talent is Lane Kiffin. The administration may not want to go there and I could understand. The one year he was here, the Vols played Bama tough.
Hopefully Mark Ingram will be interested. The quicker they can get this done and get a coach in place will be better in keeping the team intact. Those that took illegal benefits will surely leave.
I understand your point but some staff decisions need to be made soon or this team will come apart. I think they need to forget about the search firm and get a competent team together and do their own search under the Chancelor and Boyd's supervision.
I saw a statement earlier today that Peyton Manning will assist in the coaching search. I would like to see him more involved in the football program. He was a coach on the field when he played at Indy.
