I think there was definitely some back and forth with Franklin, but it never made much sense for him to come here regardless of the money involved. One perhaps overlooked fact with Franklin - he still has lots of friends (in high places) in the Nashville area from his time at Vandy. Going to TN...
If Franklin had been at Northwestern or Duke or Rice and done what he did at one of those places instead of Vandy, and then went to PSU, everyone would love him. It's just because he was at Vandy (and beat our ass and was obnoxious about it) that people don't like him. I am fine with people not...
Unless the new coach is an idiot, he will know that 8-9 wins will be awesome for a while, but not even that will keep the fans happy forever (me included), regardless of how much the AD spins it. But with that said, most of these guys like the idea of a challenge and that is a big reason why...
I get why they would want to leave their current jobs eventaully. But all of these guys will have (or have already had) really good options. I guess what I am saying is I am not sure of all the options these guys will have in the next year or two, I am not sure I see them pulling the trigger on...
It's all relative. We all have a few people that we would not support no matter what. For me, that person is Freeze. I would literally never watch another game if we hired Freeze. But for everyone else, whether I want them depends on the other options. I would rather have Campbell than Franklin...
Being a UT fan has just been so difficult, with only a few high points in the last 20+ years. It just seems like everything breaks against us. Just to imagine that we were days (hours?) from hiring Dan Mullen (who appears to be a jackass, but a really good football coach) before the FL job came...
If this is true, I question whether the better decision was not to lawyer up and tell the NCAA to screw off. Was getting rid of Pruitt and saving the buy out (if indeed that is what happens) worth what the NCAA is going to give us? Seems like it won't be.
If Darius Garland doesn't get hurt just a few games into his freshman season, things could look a lot different down on West End right now. Drew is likely still there and Keon (and other high level recruits) might be in black and gold. Thankfully for us, Keon is a Vol and seems to hate Vandy...
They outrebounded us by 9, but we had 33 missed shots and they only had 26 missed shots. So, both teams got around the same percentage of potential defensive rebounds available.
