Tony Vitello to SF Giants (Confirmed)

Yes. But in the scenario you describe of trying to “run the numbers” to justify more money going to certain places, it’s going to be hard to run the numbers to justify giving the money to baseball (which is a multi-million dollar net negative) vs. women’s sports. Football is a different discussion when it is throwing off tens of millions every year — not everybody is going to agree with the argument, but it’s much easier to distinguish football from women’s bball than it is to distinguish baseball from women’s bball. And, importantly, women’s bball generates substantially more revenue than any other women’s sport, so sending money there is the way to make it look like you’re trying to be “equitable” as an athletic department.

You didn’t even read or comprehend my post. The numbers establish that baseball at TN lost about 3.5 million less than women’s basketball. Revenue is meaningless. Do your homework - google it - the are reports out there.

And further to the point that you fail to comprehend my post is about title IX. Truly title IX is about treating female and make college scholarship athletes the same. Revenue sharing is almost the exact opposite of that - TN paying football the lion’s share of revenue share is not equality, rather a reflection of the revenue generation.

It won’t take too long for some hungry class action lawyers blow that bs wide open. How the he’ll do you think the House settlement came about? It sure as hell did not come for the generosity of the NCAA.

I don’t play an attorney on TV and sure as hell don’t stay at holiday inns.

Devils advocate response but 4.15%. $150k not a huge difference. He also said we were number 1 in the country in funding baseball overall. Yeah baseball got less but not much less. Should it have gotten more? I myself would have liked it to but I’m not gonna pretend I know the math behind it. If you go on attendance alone, its possible that lady vols bball brought in just as much revenue as baseball ticket/concession sales, and they require less money to be compensated to staff and players, so it’s certainly possible they could actually be more profitable.

Baseball had about 15% higher attendance last season than women’s basketball. And lost 3.5 million dollars less than women’s basketball. Oh and baseball adding many more seats. Do the research - I did.

According to Grok, both the LVs and baseball generated around $4M in revenue each. Baseball had a net loss of $3.5-4M, LV basketball around $3M.

Cignetti said in an interview that the AD of Indiana meets with him once a week where they talk about many different things. Cignetti added that the AD came to him and said I want to meet with you and your representation to give you a new contract......Danny White doesn't talk to Tony V, his "lieutenants do".......

This did not have to happen....... This is on Danny Dollars....... total $$it show from ego boy Danny Dollars.........

Assuming true that’s very fair criticism. Not that Tony needed it, but think any employee would want to have a good relationship with their boss.

Net Loss Comparison: Baseball's deficit was 20% larger ($3.17M vs. $2.63M), reflecting higher expenses like travel (30+ road games), scholarships (36 players), and coach Tony Vitello's $1.4M salary (now $3M). Women's basketball expenses include arena costs shared with men's but lower travel (18-game SEC slate). Both are subsidized ($5–7M combined annually from department funds).

I've already answered, but again, I think his love for Tennessee, his players, and the fans made it difficult, even in light of a strained relationship with the way the AD was being run with regard to his program. I bolded that part to say this; by White's own admission, he didn't have much direct involvement with Vitello. Tony dealt more closely with Tyler Robinson, which likely served as a buffer between TV and DW.

He's reportedly taking a pay cut, fwiw.
This the guy

if Tony does not succeed and does come back to college and goes another SEC program, even if it isn't Arky, I will lose all respect for him and hope for his absolute downfall at that school. if he goes to a program outside of the SEC, then all the luck to him.
But in your heart you know it would be like Alabama. #itsatennesseething

I did read your post, and I’ve seen the numbers you’re talking about, but I don’t have any idea what point you’re trying to make anymore, so I’ll just shut up and let you knock yourself out.

Also.

FYI - Attendance for TN Baseball this past season was 210,618 whereas Lady Vols Basketball (2024-2025 season) was 181,002. That's about a 15% difference. TN Women's Basketball (2023-2024 Fiscal Year) lost a cool 7 million clams.....

More money should go to TN Baseball - Tony is a generational coach who proved who can actually win championships!

Too much smoke for it not to be. When the truth comes out, people are going to be shocked.
I wonder…why did DW make TV the 2nd highest paid coach in college baseball, agree to build his field of dreams, keep him from going to aTm twice, and basically bend over backwards to keep him at UT in the face of every outside threat of TV leaving for the last 3-4 years…

Then when SF calls this week, just decide to let him walk?

There is zero logic to that belief.

People are mad and just want to lash out a Danny White. That’s all there is to it.

And that is total load of horse excrement. The AD think he is above talking to his coaches and sends his lieutenants to do it for him. Laughable.
No, its a fact. I get that you are angry, and you can certainly block me if you like out of frustration, but the facts are that DW did a lot to help Tony Vitello while he was here. You cannot refute that Tony was well compensated, had a funded NIL collective to help recruit top talent, and got an expensive stadium upgrade to help the growing support for our baseball program. But by all means, go ahead and continue your little tizzy fit against an AD who helped revive our overall brand just because you hate the high ticket prices or whatever your real agenda is.
