Should have played him the 2nd half of the bowl game
One half of one game? They should have made it a priority to get him all the reps possible throughout the season. They had to know Merk wasn't the answer. Now we are where we are. Let's hope for the best.

Overall, Aguilar was 430 yards better from production. He also had twice as many turnovers.

Once again, his lore is how he came here in the spring and made it work… not that he had some super duper spectacular year that was unheard of.

8-4 record, within 500 yards overall with Milton, double the turnovers.

Plenty of guys in the portal who are just as good or better. Yawn.
IMO, Milton played with the "touchdown or checkdown" type of mentality and he was very conservative with his decision making. That combined with his inability to throw the middle of the field led to limited & predictable playcalling.

I think Aguilar has a better feel for the game and will push the ball which unfortunately sometimes it causes more turnovers but at the same time allows for a more explosive offense.

First, no one believes Halzle is the real OC. Second, Aguilar was seasoned and experienced. It gave Heupel and Halzle a head start in getting him up to speed because he'd been a starter and under live fire. What we have now is raw as raw can be. Forget GMacs class standing. The kid has the barest threads of real experience. Brandon may have been hot stuff in HS, but that schedule next year will have that kids head swimming.
Show us any legitimate proof that Halle isn’t calling plays.

Why are you bringing up the 8-4 record? Also how can you say with any certainty that any QB in the portal would come here and do better than JA did?

How many do this with a tumor in his arm?

Also 3rd best passing season in Vol history? Yeah what a yawn

Okay the Oklahoma and Bama pics were bad and in the first quarter.

So you're not allowed to have turnovers anymore?

You people are braindead.

2023 and 2025 QB's were named Joe
2023 and 2025 QB's virtually had same production
2023 and 2025 QB's started 12 games and went 8-4

Once again, 2025 QB play was nothing to write home about. The QB production this year wasn't some mega all time great season that we will talk about for years to come.

We thank Joey for his service and whirlwind road that led him here and the massive payday he secured. It was a good story. But from production, it wasn't anything we haven't seen in recent years. Thank you

No one is saying someone can't have turnovers. I will state that he had twice as many turnovers over Milton's 2023 season that it neutralized a lot of the advantages in passing yards and touchdowns he had....

I'm sorry you are feeling a certain way of emotional today. Hope you can feel better soon. Who knew stats could get someone so in their feelings.

To say Joey had the same production as Milton is simply false. Joey averaged 1 more yard per attempt, 40 more yards per game, 10 point higher QB rate, and 3% higher completion percentage. Production was much better with Joey. Revisionist history already.

12 Game Averages:

Aguilar - 295 YPG / 27 Touchdowns
Milton - 259 YPG / 27 Touchdowns

That is virtually the same production when Aguilar had double the turnovers....

Once again, you are trying to make this a passing production only comparison from the QB position, which is something I never made it exclusively. I've had the same position all the way back in November. When it comes to production per game from the QB position, it's virtually the same season.

As it stands, Aguilar and Milton virtually had the same production per game with Aguilar having slightly more yards per game and Milton having less turnovers.

This isn't controversial or "revisionist history"

When turnovers result in a 14 point swing, no they are not allowed if you want to win games.

Also another stat for the Milton Joey comparison. Joeys team averaged 8 more ppg. Production wasn't similar. Dude is the clear 2nd best QB of the Heup era with 3 months to prepare. The disrespect is downright goofy.

Team Points per Game and Yards per Game don't really matter in the conversation. Like I said, when it comes to QB production, they are virtually even. The fact you are trying to argue actual stats by invoking other stats that no one ever invoked shows you are losing.

Once again, you can try to argue the averages of production from Joe's 2023 season and Joey's 2025 season, but you can't unless you somehow find a digital eraser and start modifying the game logs.

I find it rich you claim people are braindead while inventing lies.......

The Alabama pick was the final play for the first half, not the first quarter....

The Oklahoma picks were both in the second quarter, not the first quarter....

This only solidifies the idea that you are too emotional when it comes to stats you don't agree with and have to resort to creating things out of thin air.

Wow. So much here to dissect. Why are you misconstruing the debate?

Why are you only showing passing yards? No one said Milton and Aguilar had the same passing season.

Why are using 13 games from Aguilar to compare to Milton's 12 games, which once again is what the comparison always was. Their 12 game averages.

I'm sorry you are so triggered that you have to cherry pick data points to try to ignore the conversation.

You are losing the argument here by doing so.

I'm not losing anything my man. I gave you the stats. Higher QB rate, Completion percentage, better on a per play and game basis by a wide margin, more TDs, more points by the team. But yes Milton threw less picks.

Yards and points don't matter when comparing QBs? Lmao, alright then. You auto win any argument with that rationale I suppose.

I don't even understand what you mean by your 2nd paragraph. It doesn't make any sense.

"Milton and Aguilar's 12 game production were virtually the same" is the claim while providing the comparison with 4 individual data points.

@swchandler1988 : "No way Jose, here is only one data point that argues it"..... Cope harder....

Who knew arguing actual averages would trigger so many people.
