And get out of that 65 gram stock stiff shaft. Go to the 75 or 85 g version and it won't whip as much. Depending on tempo, I'd also consider the x.

I swing pretty hard. My goal is to get on a launch monitor in the next few weeks. I will keep this in mind. I have thought about an X flex but I am not as knowledgeable on newer shafts.

I'm really looking for consistency with my driver. I am fine with sacrificing yardage to get there. I have trouble making a nice smooth swing. I am accustom to swinging hard and have trouble easing off.

Seems like you've already sacrificed about 40 yards in the past two weeks.

Swinging hard and swinging smooth aren't different things. Done right a hard swing can be a smooth swing.

I have. The more I play the more trouble I have with my back. Been very stiff the past few weeks. As I said I have started yoga to work on that. Found a good book specific to golf. Hoping it helps.

He said he shoots 85 and does that, so the flat stick must be horrible for him.

Not necessarily. With such large numbers, the gaps between clubs are large. This means feel is a bigger part of play. The main place would be in the scoring clubs, where he has to cover enormous yardage and apparently sucks. If wedge game sucks, player generally sucks.

Bingo! I'm a disaster between 20-60 yards at the moment.

I don't know about "every", but it's amazing how often that's true.

I have noticed the longer hitters usually struggle with their short game. That has always been the worst part of my game. As I have gotten older, the distance has gone down, but i seem to improve around the greens.
