The Golf Thread

Sounds like you need an x flex & possibly some lower loft. Aldila shafts seem a little softer than most IMO. At demo days they have a lot of club & shaft combinations. A lot of clubs nowadays can be adjusted & swap the shaft out in no time.

A member of Volnation where I live owns a golf shop. He is going to set me up on the launch monitor and help me with the driver. I still hit my irons very high. Hard to judge distance when you hit it as high as I do.

Stop chasing distance and go take a lesson.

I don't care how far I hit it. It's just all I have to hang my hat on at the moment. I would gladly trade it for a 260 yd drive and a solid to deadly short game. I have thought about setting up a lesson but keep putting it off.

What set up is your driver?

Sounds like you're swinging out of your shoes at everything and probably really steep.

No reason for a tall guy to manipulate his way to a flat swing. If you're 6'5", swing it like you're 6'5". If you need to hit it lower, just move the ball position to the right and gear back your swing.

Thank you. I appreciate the honest advice.

Ive never had my swing speed measured, but I am a fairly long hitter. I average 320-330 and when I get after it can hit it 350-360. Of course I'm 6'5 and 280 so I have a lot behind the ball. One of our members here, SolidRockGolf, designs shafts for long drive guys and he said he could get me into a starter setup for competitions. Thinking about doing it. The rest of my golf game is hopeless so I might as well.

Seems like you've lost some distance in just the past 2 weeks.

And get out of that 65 gram stock stiff shaft. Go to the 75 or 85 g version and it won't whip as much. Depending on tempo, I'd also consider the x.

I have played 6 times the past two weeks, which is more than normal for me. My back has been stiff and not hitting the ball as far as I am accustomed to. I have started doing yoga to work on it.
