Is Rocky Top out dated?

Does anyone think that maybe playing a 50 year old hillbilly country song is past it's prime? With the advent of other music to pump up the crowd and the team gaining popularity nationwide, it may be time to consider making a change. My first home game was in 1972, when I saw Haskel Stanback run the opening kickoff back for a TD against Penn State, in a Big Orange victory. Rocky Top wasn't played then and the crowd didn't seem to miss it. I know this may not be a popular idea, but just wondering how most fans feel.

You can't be serious. One, if not the best, of all college traditions. Do you also want to do away with running through the 'T' and the checkerboards?

Well now Mr 1standgoalc Im no professional but your post seems to be a cry for help. Are you an irrelevant castout of you own little world and seeking guidance? With therapy and the right meds, youll be fine. :shades:

Might as well rid ourselves of the checkerboard end-zone in favor of paisley. And hey, who needs the maxims anyway? Let's rip that down and put up some quotes from Oprah.

Good grief. Wake and bake is not always a good idea chief ....

There's an astonishing number of people who don't know what a troll is.

Hint: it's not a poster who's a fan of a rival school.

Congrats, y'all; you just made OP's day.

This is not even a good troll.

But it will make 90 percent of this board shart their pants.

Are you serious? I'm sure the OP is making a joke, at least I hope he is. Is the National Anthem outdated? The checker board may be outdated also.............
But to give a serious one time answer: NO ROCKY TOP IS NOT OUTDATED!!!:whistling::pepper::machgun::gun:

I'm hearing rumors that Hart is trying to change the words to Rocky Top as shown below to align with the branding decision to focus on one logo.

"Power TTTTTTT, You'll always be... Home sweet home, to meeeee"

edit: hopefully blue font not necessary

No no noooo rockytop is a symbol of things we can all relate to true love that doesn't work out BC the girl is animalistic or people messn around were they shouldn't and all of us craving a simple life that we new as child, rockytop is timeless the street's don't change but maybe the names

Yep, and get rid of the big T on the helmet, replace with a big K for knoxville. We have kinda outgrown the Orange color also. I'm thinking blue. We could elect a committee that could pick a new rap song to be our fight song each year. That way it would never get old.

Don't know if this is a serious question or a troll or what. But just in case it is a serious question......NO, NO AND NO!!! Good Ole Rocky Top!!!

you got to be kidding me? Get rid of rocky top, get rid of orange, etc etc. I guess next will be running through the T is out dated we need a new entrance. The Power T itself is outdated we need to go with something more stylish. Neyland is old we need to build a new modern stadium. :banghead2:

Well, I do like "Fight Vols Fight" and "Down the Field" better, but I'm an old man who likes rock and roll much more than bluegrass.
