Is Rocky Top out dated?

Rocky Top should not be abandoned, but I suspect many would agree it is over-played to the point of some redundancy.

Sometimes I think our fans forget that our own "Fight, Vols, Fight" is one of the best spirited college fight songs ever. Yet, we don't hear it very often since Rocky Top has been adopted as the mainstay.

I think a good balance would be to give "Fight Vols, Fight" more air time to save Rocky Top from becoming tiresome and overused. My 2 cents fwiw. A half & half mixture would be nice playing a stanza of Rocky Top on the tail end of a "Fight Vols, Fight" rendition.

does anyone think that maybe playing a 50 year old hillbilly, bluegrass song is past it's prime? With the advent of other music to pump up the crowd and the team, playing rocky top over and over and over and over and over is insane in college sports today. What about the playing the theme from the beverly hillbillies instead? It may run a little long, but it does have a catchy melody and also has a banjo.
