Empty Neyland Movement (#uncluttervolnation)

Who is it distracting to? The players? I'd say they're much more distracted by horse crap like Empty Neyland then they are playing for a coach they personally care about. Like it or not, Butch recruited them and there's no indication that they have an intense dislike for the guy.

Fans need to respect the players. Period. Best way to do that is by not being asshats that want to further ruin the gameday atmosphere "for the good of the program". The "supporting mediocrity" argument is BS. There are other ways to voice displeasure that aren't so ridiculously hurtful to the very players that give their heart and soul week in and week out for this University.

The short term satisfaction of the players does not beat out the long term fixes to the program. The University is much bigger than the revolving door of players.

Plus, this will blow over when a new hire is made.

Not even on next year like I said.

If Currie is ok rolling Butch these last 3 weeks. And letting this set the tone for the fans & players.

How much better do you really expect Currie to go after if fans pack the stadium for a guy Currie just keeps shoving on you then holding his hand out for your $$$

all i get from this is "i want Butch Jones fired right now".

and that's all that matters to you.

i think he's going to get fired, and am way more concerned with the hiring process.

he's already got mine, and your, money for this game.

so again, stop your donations, give up your tickets. problem solved.

Same except that this is sending a message that if the AD mucks it up again, they know that the fans will call them out on it.

Penny saved is a penny earned.

Then why spend 350 million to begin with. the statement was " to enhance the game day experience for the fans". How did that blow out lose to GA make you feel about the experience in Neyland . Did it feel enhanced . Would a closer bathroom made that lose better . would another concession stand mad you experience better.

This EXACTLY! People need to grow up and stop punishing the team for their coaches shortcomings. As I said in another post don't spend money on clothing, F&B, donations but for goodness sake support the team.

Why would any top talent want to come to a place where the fanbase acts like a bunch of petulant children.

AD seeing empty seats means nothing to him, huh? :loco:

And "the money is already in the bank" attitude reflects a lack of understanding of consumer behavior. All succesful businesses are concerned with the customer's perception of the product, regardless of whether it's "already paid for" or not.

It didn't have to happen.
Currie chose this path
He had 3 weeks of opportunities to fire Butch Jones

Stands were still full and even checkered Neyland for a game that Tennessee lost 41-0

He showed no pride in the program not firing Butch after Alabama.
(You could make an argument that he shouldn't be fired before Alabama)
And despite every logical media & spots outlet saying it was clearly over after Alabama we still get Butch.

Fans kept giving him full stadiums. So why would he need to change anything

you're still operating on the assumption he's going to be retained?

agree to disagree.

Same except that this is sending a message that if the AD mucks it up again, they know that the fans will call them out on it.

You really think the AD doesn't know how disappointed the fans are? Be honest, this is to make you feel better, not send a message that is already received.

How did you get that out of what I posted?

The biggest concern IS THE NEXT HIRE.

And if Currie is content on rolling Butch out there week after bad week. The massive distraction Butch is causing at Tennessee.

How do you expect Currie to make a competent hire? When he can't make a competent decision now?

This movement is showing Currie what the fans WILL NO LONGER ACCEPT.

So if your going to do a 350 million dollar upgrade. Get your house in order before you expect people in it.

Players are not a product man. They're humans. This supid "emptyneyland" does zero to help these or future prospects. Support the players, Butch is fired. He knows it. Dont support this ignorant idea please

no they won't. they'll be back next year just like always.

you wanna boycott? boycott. put some teeth in it.

we're gonna skip the most meaningless game on the schedule? that's the message?

it's like Bama suspending their best player for the first half of the inept tech game. window dressing.

don't renew, stop the donations next year. really show your "buying power".:good!:

I disagree. We didn't do anything this visceral to get Dooley fired; money talks and you can show support for the kids without spending more at the bookstore or on Gameday.

Yes we did. Attendance tanked around Mizzou.

I usually try to buy at least 1 piece of UT Merch a year because I can't afford to go to Neyland sadly.

The Coaching + Players + Experience is the product. Football is a business.

Excuse this for bringing up a player's name, but Butch did it, so

according to Butch -- and at least in one period of time -- his thinking is/was, that so long as a person is competitive, and bothered, and is searching for their way, then Butch supports the individuals' decision that it's ok, temporarily, to not join in, right?

Butch Jones explains Jauan Jennings's absence from Tennessee Vols football's sideline

""... is an extremely competitive young man, and it absolutely bothers him being on the sideline because he feels he can't help the football team, and that's his makeup.

That's his decision. I don't want him to be on the sideline and kind of make it worse in terms of it's bothering him right now that he feels he can't help the football team.""

Personally, I'm not in on the movement, but just wanted to point this out.

and if 40k fans show up to the game, and it's really empty.....then you'll have a point.

this game wasn't getting full attendance to begin with, and was likely going to be the least attended game of the season anyway.

you guys chose the most meaningless game on the schedule to boycott. good work.

Not to me and you or the players. Its a sport. Dont go if you dont want to but don't create damage that the next coach has to waste time overcoming. The best thing that could happen is showing class.

God bless you too, brother.

I just don't think you are giving these young men enough credit. They know Coach Jones IS the target of fan hostilities, and I do understand that most don't like it, and they shouldn't.

I too had some coaches that I loved, and some that I knew were dolts.

The situation has become too toxic for reasonability. Jones needs to be relieved ASAP, so the air can be let out of the balloon. My opinion, of course.

I agree with you my brother in Christ But you might be right, I might be thinking the kids have blinders on and can't see the big picture so to speak but I do know Josh Smith spoke to the media about the fans booing during the game and he was not happy as he said other players weren't. I think you're totally right in saying these kids should know but I have a freshman playing ball at Huntingdon, Montgomery al (SS) and he doesn't have a clue as to whats going on, ( must take after his dad) but Josh speaking to the media just resonated with me these kids don't separate coach hatred/players hatred/ back to son real quick, he's playing on a Div3 championship team and loving life but getting back to topic, Josh was totally taken aback by fan response.

I may be wrong but the last thing I want in this world is for the players to feel the fans have abandoned them. Our recruiting class will look like a ghost town if that happens.

Quick story if I may, had a come to Jesus prayer night in Katy Texas(hotel room and god speaking to me) doing inspections, it was right before UT/UF and I prayed and confessed everything I could in a 2 hour time frame, and then we played Florida and when we lost I wasn't even mad! I was LIKE... Whoa, god made that much difference in my life. WOW, but getting back to topic, I worry more about the players than the staff. CBJ knew or I hope he knew what he was getting into coming to TN and I hope the next head coach is a strong christian because he's going to have to be to put up with our fan base. Whats really heart breaking is I read the vile and hateful things some of these members spill out and I have to wonder what kind of life did they grow up in and how bad they must have been treated as children or even with no parental guidance at all as children did they think this behavior was acceptable? I'm judging and I have no right, my judgement comes from Christ so I'll shut up..... Hope you have a blessed day my brother and may god bless all things in you and all on this board!

2. you think he's going to be retained, really?
3. the hose will be packed next year. and CBJ won't be on the sidelines.
