Empty Neyland Movement (#uncluttervolnation)

Well they better plan on putting curtains on the upper bowl. They will lose fans by the thousands if they continue to be committed to mediocrity.

according to some, they've already lost 20-30k fans this week alone.

i still haven't seen anyone commit to giving up their season tickets and stopping the donations. wonder why?

i mean, for what you say will happen, that's what it will take. this project isn't due to be complete for another 2-3 years...soooo.....

the only way the air gets let out, really, is on the hiring...not the firing. that's gonna happen.

it's always what comes next that's most important. firing butch jones doesn't solve the problems on it's own.

You don't think there would be a collective sigh of relief?

I do.

Then everyone could start looking forward, instead of being consumed with anger 24/7.

For the short sighted? yes.

The sigh of relief for me will be when Currie rolls out a coach that can win championships here.

Ppl are treating like a poorly managed diner with bad over priced food. Ppl are done. Nothing to do with the waiters

Sorry but sir/ ma'am have you ever been a waiter? You do know that your analogy effects the waiters more than the diner due to the fact you make money off the tips you make off the diners that pay for your food and services. Sorry not trying to demean you but I would choose another way to get your point across.

Have a Bless Day!!!!!

What all of us fans right now are looking for is a ray of hope that things will change and get better . I cant speak for everyone but i have yet to see this from AD and the boosters.

See here is my biggest worry Jakez.

Based on Currie not firing Butch 3 weeks past the point of if your not going to keep him next year why allow the MASSIVE DISTRACTION to continue with him here still?

Very concerning two fold..

1. Currie wanted/wants to keep Butch. (Very concerning)

2. The mishandling of a simple ok he is done let's end the distraction and get back to football.

So #2 he doesn't understand the distraction keeping Jones is causing. AND HE IS GOING TO BE ABLE TO HIRE THE NEXT COACH?!?!?

I would like just for opinion sakes what has CURRIE DONE to give you any faith that just stay the course give us $$$ I know football and I'll hire Tennessee a good coach.

A regular from the RF has posted that is told the UT that he will stop his donations if this hire doesn’t go well. He’s a respected guy there and hasn’t posted much since the USCe game.

Donations will dry up if they continue to support mediocrity. And they’ll lose the everyday fan as well.

yeah, it's always better when you "know".

i'm just not that worried about it at this point.

if CBJ is on our sidelines next year, i'll apologize to the emptyneyland crowd, promise.

No my own personal choice was to not give the football program $1 of my money when they announced Butch Jones as head coach.

It was easy to see him for what he was then. But Currie's mentor Hamilton hired him anyway.

That was my choice then, my choice now. Ready to be where I feel comfortable about giving UT football my $$$ again.

Fire him now.

Dave Hart hired Butch Jones.

Hamilton was gone in 2011 and Currie left UT in 2009.

Anybody that boycotts the game by not going is a LOSER!! These are kids and 1 of the main reasons they come to Tennessee is Neyland Stadium and the fans. If you are one of those boycotting, please go cheer for vandy. Their stadium is empty every game!!

BS! I'm an adult and I don't choose to spend my free time watching garbage. No different than I'm not spending my time and money going to a taping of The View. Would make my stomach turn, just like UT football does. Until Currie says BJ ain't coming back, neither am I!

Currie is not proving a level of competence (or better) than Hart or Hamilton by firing Jones. Both of them fired coaches. He can only prove that by hiring a better coach than either of them did.

i agree with that. i just think it's naive to think calling for an organized boycott of a homecoming game in a season that's in the crapper is going to make them do something....right now.

especially when i believe it's going to happen anyway.

and extra-especially when im more concerned with who the next guy might be, that would actually start solving some of these problems.

Not even on next year like I said.

If Currie is ok rolling Butch these last 3 weeks. And letting this set the tone for the fans & players.

How much better do you really expect Currie to go after if fans pack the stadium for a guy Currie just keeps shoving on you then holding his hand out for your $$$

ITs TIME !!!!! Its time to send a message that the fans are fed up with showing up for a bad on the field product . What is the point of having great facilities and trying to keep up with Bama and other SEC powers if all were doing is putting a Vanderbilt type product on the field. If you are going to build a 100000 seat stadium you better put something on the field worth watching if you want it to be full. If your going to play like Vandy all you need is 50000 seats so the visiting teams fans can enjoy the game.

Honestly, I hope Currie lets Jones dig his own grave with desperate moves like the Kendrick one. Being able to fire Jones with cause will possibly save the program with more money in the bank. It truly doesn't matter if we fire him today or in three weeks unless we have cause.

Empty Neyland is about making sure the AD knows we won't put up with **** football anymore.

Who is it distracting to? The players? I'd say they're much more distracted by horse crap like Empty Neyland then they are playing for a coach they personally care about. Like it or not, Butch recruited them and there's no indication that they have an intense dislike for the guy.

Fans need to respect the players. Period. Best way to do that is by not being asshats that want to further ruin the gameday atmosphere "for the good of the program". The "supporting mediocrity" argument is BS. There are other ways to voice displeasure that aren't so ridiculously hurtful to the very players that give their heart and soul week in and week out for this University.

I don't care if it's full, or empty, I just want the distraction jettisoned.

I honestly believe PM and PF are advising UT. I trust their judgement.

That allows me to relax about our HC and focus on what the players want us to do. I think the players want to play in loud filled stadiums. While the fans are cheering them to victory.

Go Vols!

Beat SM.

Hey what is Jones buy out ? How much did they say they are going to spend on the stadium 350 million . Yeah money is reason this is playing out the way it is. His buyout is nothing compared to 350000000.

It didn't have to happen.
Currie chose this path
He had 3 weeks of opportunities to fire Butch Jones

Stands were still full and even checkered Neyland for a game that Tennessee lost 41-0

He showed no pride in the program not firing Butch after Alabama.
(You could make an argument that he shouldn't be fired before Alabama)
And despite every logical media & spots outlet saying it was clearly over after Alabama we still get Butch.

Fans kept giving him full stadiums. So why would he need to change anything

For the record, I read this post as if Samuel L. Jackson was narrating in his "A Time to Kill" character's voice.
