WRONG... I am neither. I grew up 13 miles away from Neyland Stadium, I attended UT, and my father was an enlisted man in the Navy that loved Navy Football.
Dooley doesn't need a splash, he needs W's and he gets the best chance with BG. No one remembers the press conference or the "spalsh". Fans and supporters remember seasons.
28th best defense in the country doesnt mean much when its middle of the pack in your conference. Its like having the 28th best offense and playing in the big12.
Y'all don't know anything.
First of all, everyone on here has been misting their panties for the past week thinking Randy Shannon was coming to UT-well he aint.
Second, for those of you that think Navy sucks, then you need to compare apples to apples. Navy and Air Force and Army RECRUIT players to the Service Academies. They have to convince kids that they should come to play for them with no hope of going into the NFL then serving a term as a commissioned officer in their respective service. Add to that the entrance requirements that each has to achieve and the Service Academies don't RECRUIT or GET the same athletes that go to large conference schools or even the athletes that go to FCS schools.
Navy has fielded and will continue to field undersized teams that are out matched in terms of athleticism when compared with the team on the opposite side of the field.
The defenses that Buddy Green puts on the field are well prepared, disciplined, never quit, and always overachieve. For Navy to have 3 wins in 5 years versus Notre Dame should never, never happen in the modern era of college football.
Navy is a tough place to coach and RECRUIT to because most of the time, when they step on the field the deck is stacked against them. If there is anyone in the country that can flat coach when when the odds are against us it is Buddy Green. He's a journeyman coach that has been other places besides Navy.
I for one welcome his hire as DC!!
lol at this. The Naval academy will waive or postpone the service commitment if the midshipman has the potential to play in the nfl. There was a TE I believe like 2-3 years ago that went to camp for someone. I would get details but if you dont need them neither do I
If UT hires Buddy Green as DC, you all have a great life. I will personally be hanging up on the Tennessee Vols. All the resources that UT has, and this is the best they can do.
GIVE ME A BREAK!!!!!!!!!!! I've been pro-Dooley since the beginnning, but a Navy DC seems like taking 2 steps back. This will be the choice that boots Dooley's ass out the door. God, I hope this rumor doesn't happen.
A.) It's UTC. It's hard to win there. Period.
B.) Read the whole bio before picking out the little parts you want to dissect in front of VN to make yourself sound knowledgeable.
The rest of that paragraph (that you so eloquently redacted most of) reads:
You must be one of those guys that thinks only checkbooks will solve all problems.
Buddy Green is a joke dude.I seen his teams and they were pathetic.keep dreaming that this would even be a decent hire.If DD picked him over CLT and if I was LT Id tell Dooley where he can stick his sinking ship.
oh and far as the checkbook goes, you get what you pay for.
Based on past experience, looks like he would be a secondary coach. So imo him as a position coach is not happening unless he can coach something else.
My point is you have some connection to navy and thats why your campaigning for this guy.
