Navy has been forced to run difficult schemes to prepare for, because of their personnel. Hence, the triple option and the 2-4-5 defense. But this D is not a gimmick. It has been proven at the highest levels. It is very effective against the run and the pass. It is the kind of defensive scheme that is very attractive to aggressive players. Pin your ears back and get after the QB. It gives safeties, corners, and linebackers blitz opportunities without really sacrificing coverage. It is a b**** to play against. Look at the success Navy has had. Navy. 8 straight bowl games, winning streaks against ND. Navy. The same Navy that used to win 1-3 games per season.
