If dooley hires this guy he should fire himself!!!!!! This Guy dosent recruit his players ...they enlist!! I am thinking more and more Dooley is way over his head..

I wish I was as optimistic as you but this hire will not inspire the fan base and dooley desperately needs good pr right now if he even wants to survive past the florida game.

WRONG... I am neither. I grew up 13 miles away from Neyland Stadium, I attended UT, and my father was an enlisted man in the Navy that loved Navy Football.

Dooley doesn't need a splash, he needs W's and he gets the best chance with BG. No one remembers the press conference or the "spalsh". Fans and supporters remember seasons.

Seems like you are one of the few idiots that still thinks Wilcox did not do a good job.

I am sure you are right though. I mean he was so bad at Tennessee a lot of other schools like Texas have wanted him ever since last year.

Bad pr is pointless. If he wins next year it wont matter. Better than making a big hire and not working out. Bad pr will be gone with wins. That's the last thing on Dooleys mind.

This. I don not see why it is so hard for people to understand. The effects of not hiring the best available defensive coordinator will linger around a lot longer then the negative PR that will arise if the best available is not a big name.

I hope we don't have to hear from all of these "insiders" about how it is going to be a big name. A lot of guys give the local media a hard time, but they never mentioned Shannon and I think they were right. I don't think they were ever going to consider Shannon. I had a feeling that it would be some name we have never heard of. Well, let's hope that he works out. I am behind him.

28th best defense in the country doesnt mean much when its middle of the pack in your conference. Its like having the 28th best offense and playing in the big12.

Its tough being optimistic thats for sure. Like others have said winning is the only thing that will matter, and the "splash" will settle if it does live up to the expectations.

I think you're not giving our fan base the credit it deserves. I know there are a lot of negative people on here, but thats not the majority of our fan base. Our fan base will wonder who the guy is, and question it. Then they look into him some more see his is a Navy Academy guy so then affiliate discipline with that then The Generals Seven Maxims will start to come to mind and then they will be fine. :)
