Y'all don't know anything.
First of all, everyone on here has been misting their panties for the past week thinking Randy Shannon was coming to UT-well he aint.
Second, for those of you that think Navy sucks, then you need to compare apples to apples. Navy and Air Force and Army RECRUIT players to the Service Academies. They have to convince kids that they should come to play for them with no hope of going into the NFL then serving a term as a commissioned officer in their respective service. Add to that the entrance requirements that each has to achieve and the Service Academies don't RECRUIT or GET the same athletes that go to large conference schools or even the athletes that go to FCS schools.
Navy has fielded and will continue to field undersized teams that are out matched in terms of athleticism when compared with the team on the opposite side of the field.
The defenses that Buddy Green puts on the field are well prepared, disciplined, never quit, and always overachieve. For Navy to have 3 wins in 5 years versus Notre Dame should never, never happen in the modern era of college football.
Navy is a tough place to coach and RECRUIT to because most of the time, when they step on the field the deck is stacked against them. If there is anyone in the country that can flat coach when when the odds are against us it is Buddy Green. He's a journeyman coach that has been other places besides Navy.
I for one welcome his hire as DC!!

From what I hear, CLT was excited to hear BG's name mentioned in DC discussion.
BG will be announced as UT's DC on or before Friday.
Obviously your a relative of this guy or a navy alum. Dooley has to make a PR splash with this hire and Buddy doesnt do it. I respect what hes doing at Navy but this is a much different ballgame in the sec.
Personally we don't need the hire to be a splash at the expense of quality. RS would be a splash, but nothing pts to him being a success for us. We have a lot of good players committed to us that are just making sure that we get a solid guy that will bring the best out of them and that's something BG can do. It's not like we will have a bunch of guys dropping their commitments to come to UT just because RS came here. We probably wont lose any if we get BG here, so that's fine with me.
Im not sure how we can assume wont lose any commitments with buddy. Is that really gona put confidence into santos and mcneil. we should just hire thompson if this is the best we can do.
