Yeah, the contract will force them to make some tough choices but Mahomes contract isn't as bad as I thought it would be, especially from a value standpoint. It doesn't even hit $40m until 2023 and it balloons to $59m for one year in 2027. Other than that, in years 1-8 he's in the $36-$46m which puts him in the same company as lesser QB's for many years of the contract, particularly years from now when the cap is much higher. They'll have to do some gymnastics around 2027, but other than tbat, the contract is convenient.

Hill is a burner who is now 28, and I would guess that's why they don't want to pay him what he's asking.

I think this trade was good for them, but they got worse in the short run. They've lost some defense and Kelce is getting old. Adding Juju helps, but they're not going to be the same team next year. Mahomes has to go to another level, probably.

The level Mahomes and Josh Allen were playing at in their playoff matchup was insane. I’ve honestly never seen better qb play than the 4th quarter of that game where both QBs looked like Superman

The only thing that makes sense is it’s a prove it kinda year for your QB so you’re trying to go all in for him. But even then this is too “in” for my taste.

Especially given how cheaply they could’ve traded for other talented pieces like Amari Cooper for a 6, La’El Collins for a 7th, and Shaq Mason for a 5th.

That’s a lot of help to be able to give your QB for a lot less draft capital.

That specific game was incredible, but that wasn't Mahomes' best season, not by a long shot. And the playoffs ended with him totally blowing it, starting with the end of the 2nd quarter of the AFCCG, basically to the end of the game.

I agree with the general point of the article. Clearly, I've been harping on this. But I think the Chiefs made the right choice with or without the Mahomes contract. Pay Hill $120m over 4 years, or take a hefty ransom for a 28 YO burner (who might've already lost a step, judging last year's numbers)? Seems like an easy choice to me.

Hill is a $30m talent, but he's really only had 2 huge seasons in the last 4 years, so IDK if anybody can actually say he is worth $30m.

Shaq Akeem Barrett and Shaq Olajuwon Mason were both named first and middle name after the same NBA stars and now they both play for the Bucs.

In 1975 Terry Metcalf had each of the following 5 categories: Rushing TD, Receiving TD, Punt Return TD, Kick Return TD, and Passing TD.

Questions. Is this the only time in history a player has accomplished this? Does anyone know if this has been done since?

Gayle Sayers in 1965.
Spec Sanders did it in 1946.............plus and int returned for a TD. :oops:

Metcalf is the only one since the merger.

Here's a few other interesting facts.

Chris Hinton made it to the Pro Bowl as a RT, LT, LG, and RG. Has any other offensive lineman made it to the Pro Bowl at those 4 positions?

Jim Jeffcoat had over 100 career sacks - 102.5 to be exact. He was never selected to play in the Pro Bowl. Does anyone know of any other player with 100 or more career sacks that never made it to the Pro Bowl?

Jethro Pugh had 95.5 "unofficial" sacks, and was never a PBer.

Did Bruce Matthews make it at every OL position? Not sure about that.

Pro bowl doesn't distinguish left and right T or G, so it's hard to look up

speaking of Terry Metcalf..........I always wondered why St. Louis wasn't better back then? They were loaded
