Who will be the qb this year?

If Brian were to transfer it wouldn’t be because he “got recruited over”. It would be because he and one of his coaches don’t see eye to eye and I’ll leave it at that. But HB physically will not beat out Maurer. If he were to do that it would have to be in the film room. Maurer has the stronger arm, both are equally as accurate deep but Maurer is more accurate short and intermediate. Bailey can’t throw on the run. Maurer can. Bailey can’t run away from defenses. Maurer can. Bailey has to have a clean pocket for his mechanics because he can’t throw “off platform”. Maurer can.

None of this is meant as a shot at Bailey. There’s just a difference in the two of them. Bailey is an “old school” qb and Maurer is what the position has evolved into today. If Maurer had played for St Thomas Aquinas or IMG (like they wanted him to) he would’ve been a high 4* or better. And even though he chose to stay loyal to his team he was still recognized as the best qb in the state of Florida in his class. He’s known as the best that ever came out of his area which includes the likes of Daunte Culpepper and Nkosi Perry.
Best in his area ever is a joke, the best ever generally wins more than 3 games a year in the worst district in Fl.

JG deserve some respect. He is your guy this season and possibly next season. Unless he just throw 10 int in the fist few games other than that he is your starter. This fan base need to be more positive when it come to JG. All the negative energy will not help your QB. We never seen him play with the same OC back to back years so give him a chance he may be great this year.
Feel like we been saying give him a chance for the last three years...

And BTW. I never said BM would scare off HB. I think you have me confused with littlevol. I did however say at one point last year that if I were thinking like a HC it was a smart play to go with JG even though there was a more talented qb on the roster because if he touched the field he’d run away with the job. And I wasn’t wrong. Once he touched the field he ran away with the job and only injury got JG back on the field. If he’d never gotten injured it’s a high possibility that we would’ve lost JG AND HB. Which would’ve left us with ONLY Maurer and Shrout this coming season.
I'ma disagree with you there. For the simple fact that BM has thrown more interceptions than TDs. I'm sorry but as a coach you should know that's never good. Did he give us a spark sure as in he was different than JG did he actually help win games? No but it's debatable

I’d say he helped win games and the most evident one being the bowl game even though he doesn’t get the credit he deserves. He didn’t look great but If he hadn’t lead us into FG position in his one and only drive we lose by 2 even with the successful on side kick. It’s easy to thank Eric Gray because he was the MVP but without Maurer we lose too.

Also, as a coach, you’re doing yourself, the fan base and your players an injustice if you don’t look at WHY said ints occurred to begin with. And I’m sure Pruitt and Chaney have done just that. His first int hit DWA in the chest vs UF in a game he was equally as unprepared to play in as the coaching staff themselves were to make the change. His second was vs UGA. You can’t see it on the game replay because the camera wasn’t aimed at Palmer but I’m sure on coaches film they can see that Palmer got tangled up with the db and stumbled after the ball had already been released. However he did put too much air under it anyway. If he had rail shot it it goes out of bounds. His third and fourth were both vs MSU. Both were terrible decisions. But one was literally 2 plays after bouncing off his head and it can be argued that maybe Chaney should’ve ran the ball to preserve the points after such an occurrence. His 5th JJ handed to Alabama and even JJ himself knows that. As a coach you gotta take these things into consideration even when the fans don’t. Because if coaches thought like fans then qb coaching would be as simple as “whoever has the best stats is the best qb” and I think we all should know it’s not that simple.

You give great excuses.

Forgive me for sounding stupid. I work weekends so I been drankin. A good coach will put the most experienced qb under center. That would be JG. Right?

Last season we actually heard of a quarterback competition even if it wasn't close. This year we've heard nothing about a competition only who is the second and third guy. JG is the stater

If that is true then no competition this year either, jg automatic the starter.

JG will be the starter for every game, barring injury. Our defense will look good. Our run game will be improved. We will go 5-5 losing 3 games by close margins where JG was the clear reason we lost. Pruitt’s QB decisions & a blow out loss to UF to end the season will put Pruitt on the hot seat going into 2021.

I hope not for Pruitt, imo he has built a sound team all but qb. With Jg I predict Pruitt will try to run an pound, control the clock, and you can never win a championship in today's football this way. Too many high powered offenses to win this way any longer imo. And also it will be very difficult to have a good running game without a qb threat to pass consistantly.

That was the book on Saban...how about now?

Yes Saban won this way for a while but changed his offensive strategy the last few years. And he won with the grind game with a team loaded with 4 and 5 star players. And realized he was gona have to change for more champinships.

True but when your starter hasn't shown the ability to throw people open or over throw wide open receivers it limits what you can do. JG is a good man but he just lacks that little bit to get us past this 15+ years of crap that we been going through. I believe if we currently had Josh dobbs we would be in a much better position. CJP should be given another 2 years before his name is on any hot seat that way most of his guys he recruited actually has experience and then we can see just how good he truly is.

Terrible Hot Take. I think he last maybe 2 games. I think we have a different Starter by Game 3 the Georgia Game.
Just going off the fact he's hovered around 6th-7th the past couple years and there are no superstars in the SEC this year. He could reasonably move up a couple spots, though not having JJ/MC and doing so missing all this practice time with new receivers may be tough.

Lol I couldn’t let you get away with it not until he plays multiple consistent games.... but you are probably right
