When Saban retires, what would CJP do if Bama called

I can remember when people were writing in to newspapers and calling in to radio programs wondering how we could ever keep Bill Battle from going home to Alabama. That kept up until people started emptying Neyland stadium into the streets screaming, “Fire Bill Battle.” Battle’s start was a lot more auspicious than CJP’s. Maybe we could hold these concerns until Pruitt has one winning season.

1. Stay here and build a legacy

2. Leave for Bama

3. Or follow the guy who follows Saban

Your thoughts please also this is contingent on Pruitt doing well here and salary offers are roughly equal.

Any more assumptions?

You guys think the Bama admin higher ups and boosters are making the hire when Saban retires? You really shouldn’t .

I have said on here many times that I go to church with a guy who does radio spots for Alabama and drives coach Saban around when in the area doing recruiting. He thinks very highly of Pruitt and believes he will be the first former assistant to beat Saban. According to him, should Saban leave, he gone!

Kirby still stands the best chance given Georgia's recruiting, especially considering they have Alabama in the regular season in 2020.

I hope they do come calling cause we all know what that means, but I'd also like to see what he does. I don't think hes as quick to leave as some of you say.
4-5 years is the plan imo. Let Tee watch how he does it. Tee takes over a loaded team and it's Tennessee against Alabama for SEC supremacy every year thereafter. As it should be.

Which do you think do you think would give him more clout ?! Taking UT to the heights that that other school currently sits, or just continuing what that other coach has started ? Everything is cyclical. How much longer do you forsee them being at that level ?

If he’s not an AD of sorts he’ll definitely be a special advisor to the nxt man up

I think Saban’s blessing will count for about 4/5 of who the next hire is. If not more . I don’t think Dabo will be that guy . He’s living his best life and is relatively unchallenged in the ACC. The real question is who will want to follow a legend? There is no one who will ever be Saban again and Bama fans have no patience with 10 win seasons.

I think you are 100% on point here. Saban (barring the Devil coming to collect on his debt before he retires) will hand pick his successor.

We should hope that Alabama contacts Pruitt about the head coaching job. That means he has been successful at Tennessee.

Ask Ray Perkins and Holly Warlick what it's like to follow a legend. Pruitt knows he can become a Tennessee legend or be the guy that followed Saban at Bama. If you had a choice which would you choose? If he's successful here Bama won't be able to outbid us. If he brings us a championship we won't let him get away.

We have been on hard times for a very long time but we are still Tennessee. We are still one of the premier programs in all of CFB. We will be a force once again I can promise you that.

Pruitt may have grew up a Bammer but he's ours now. He's All Vol

`I know we've been suffering as a fanbase for a long damn time but don't allow that to let you loose focus. We are STILL Tennessee. We envy no one. We have a tradition that other programs wish they had. The SEC hell CFB wouldn't be what it is without us. Rocky Top, The Checkerboards, The General, IT'S FOOTBALL TIME IN TENNESSEE, That's us Nation. The last 15 years have been brutal but guess what? Our day is coming again. It will happen because we are Tennessee. Hang on just a bit longer and the glory days will return. I believe that in every ounce of my being.

Our day will come again. Wait and see

And Dabo will not live in Saban’s shadow....

He literally has zero incentive to leave Clemson. No recruiting, no financial, no competitive..... literally zero incentive to leave

The only draw is if Mama asks you to come home , how strong it will be to say no. Because if he is their guy Saban’s guy they will make it as hard as possible to say no. If this were 3 years ago I’d say he’d be there in a heartbeat, but things have changed drastically.

I think he stays if he has something special built here

If CJP doesn’t win big here he might rejoin bama as an assistant which is a step back. In other words he probably ain’t gonna be bama’s head coach. That doesn’t mean he can’t be successful at UT. Bama will go big when Saban retires.

Every coach we get, some of you will find some reason that somebody is going to steal him. Yall did it with Dooley and Butch and we fired both of them. Why don't you wait until the coach actually wins before you get your bowels all torn up?

If CJP has the success needed to be the man at Alabama then I'm sure he would go. I don't think he would bail for any other job unless it's a NFL gig.
If he wins big enough here it would be really cool for him to say "nah im aight" to Bama. Saban is gonna be retiring sooner than later so I don't know if Pruitt has enough time to get a offer. If so these next couple of years are gonna be damn good. I'd hate to see him go back and be a DC for whoever does takeover, that would be a slap in the face
