What an arrogant...

And this:
@TennesseeBeat: Jones asked how he can coach better: "I think the first thing is holding our players accountable ... to playing with a high level of ...

That was the most cowardly thing he could have said today and he says it week after week. This guy IS NOT A MAN.......

Definitely not a Dabo Swinney, that man can coach, I don't know much about him but he proved he can coach, and didn't take credit for the win.

One of my favorite coaching personalities, Dabo. Yes, he can coach and he's perfectly comfortable in his own skin.

Seriously all you guys want to see is hate and anger. It fuels your passion!!!

You must ask yourself, what are you made of then to only see hate and anger?

Yes and your gonna change opinions by being a jerk. Most likely it's gonna have the exact opposite affect.

It sure is easy for you to spend someone else's money. Not going to happen.

Yep. Butch will be given the chance to get rid of some coaches after this season to save his job. Will be interesting to see how that goes.

Will Butch take the fall with his coaches?

Not true. We are @ 2-3 now. We finish the season against Kentucky, SC, North TX, Missouri, Vandy. A win against UGA or BAMA and finishing out the season with wins against those teams would get us to 8-4.

There's no way in hell we can beat Georgia or Alabama. Both games will be beat downs. We will lose to Kentucky, beat North Texas, lose to Missouri, SC & Vandy are toss ups. If I had to bet and my life depended on it I would bet we get one more win this season. This is a complete melt down now. The wheels have come off. "ain't no gittin it back"

I'm not seeing a lot of support for the team in the last 4 weeks. I would respond the same way.

Having to hear a bunch of armchair QB's that never played past high school criticize the team has to be tough to handle.

Plenty of people who have suited up past high school, including those who have worn the orange, have been criticizing him. Stop with the excuse brigade.

Sorry but I watched the whole presser and in no way did what he say sound arrogant. It's how you took it because that is how you wanted to take it. He was simply asked what he said to the players at their meeting and he summarized the point of discussion. No a thing wrong with what he said.

I am very unhappy with our teams performance and our coaches lack of execution but people are taking this a little too personal. And no just because you are passionate about UT football doesn't give the right to start personally attacking someone's character.

Maybe you didn't take it that way because you didn't want to take it that way. Again, I took it how I took it. I didn't watch it with an agenda. And I've never even been called a negavol before...

THAT was the comment that bothered me. More complete answer would have added, "and as coaches we must strive to put our players in the position to be successful on every play."

EDIT: Even Spurrier knows that little trick. And it's a good one. Everyone should always be in doubt about their future.

I don't see any difference between this presser than any other presser. He has always been arrogant, an excuse maker, and gruff with anyone who questions his or his staffs ability or decision making. The fans raising the biggest ruckus, are the dumb asses, who bought in to his smoke and mirror coach speak, and recruiting rankings, instead of judging him where coaches should be judged, on the field. To be fair, there's plenty of blame for the local media / talk show clowns to share as well. Swain, Ainge and others hyped this clown up as the savior of UT football before he proved one thing on the field, the only place that matters. Maybe one day the UT administration, decision making donors, and fan base as a whole will have the common sense to hire and support a proven HC / winner on the field, instead of the manipulative media clowns / terrible coaches known as Lane Kiffin, Derrick Dooley and Butch Jones. The end.

No support? Sold out stadiums indicate otherwise. 101k+ on Saturday in questionable weather conditions...after a give-away loss to Florida? No support?

And saying you can't criticize coaching decisions if you never played, is like saying nobody is suited to criticize the government because your " just a citizen".

That isn't how I took it... If you watched it and watched the smirk on his face as he said it... I think the arrogance part of it would make a little more sense. I for one haven't been overly critical of Butch. I think he is underperforming for year three. But I was more than a little taken back with the tone he has taken with the media this year. All things considered.... the media in Knoxville has been pretty easy on him, imho

Everyone has a right to their opinion. And I've been very critical of Butch's game day coaching this year, heck I started a thread on here during the Florida game in the 2nd quarter. About Butch getting outcoached....again.

However, I did watch and listen to today's presser and I did not take his comments the way you did. Not being critical of you, but my perception was different. To me, he's just doing his job. I believe he's passionate about it, which is good. I believe he's trying to circle the wagons and keep his guys in the fold, which he should.

So I actually came away from this presser feeling better about the guy as head football coach of the school I love.

What if some of the fans and media deserve it?

Then you remember that you represent the University of Tennessee and that that is a privilege, not a right. Giving the media words to use against you is never smart-- less so when you are in the public eye. This is exactly why some coaches are keeping players, who are basically teenagers, off social media during football season. But when it's a coach...

Overreact much? We've lost 3 games - 2 against 2 undefeated top 10-15 teams - by a total of 12 points, and you say that the wheels have fallen off.

Get a grip!

You guys are a miserable, depressing crowd to be around. Have you ever thought that maybe your expectations were unrealistic to begin with.

I choose to be optimistic about the team and the progress that they are making. I still think we can salvage the season and go to a bowl game, which will give us more opportunities to improve. Next year always has been the year people have targeted for Tennessee.

But you guys can keep *****ing and complaining about EVERYTHING, and be miserable together.

Sad part is to even get to 7 wins we have to knock off Georgia or Alabama as well as beat the other teams that we "should" beat.

No we don't, we can lose both those and still get 7. After those 2 the rest of our games we should be favored.

Uh-oh...gonna be a long week. He shouldn't oughta did dat.

I don't have any problem with it.

Still doesn't change the fact that he has to start winning games. Winning will cure all ills. Or, he will be gone. Everything else, including press conference quotes, is trivial.

When did we start having press conferences after losses? Especially exposing the players after a loss. This is a terrible idea and should be done away with.

There is nothing they can say that I want to hear, just go back to work, try harder and keep quiet.
