Well if Butch Ever Leaves We Will Know Why.

Lol My honest opinion is Butch needs to shut the hell up and stop worrying about it. You're never going to control the media. Get over it.

Totally agree. You can expect the media in every market to kick you when you're down and praise you when your up. And it only gets worse if you turn on them. So Butch and the players just need to ignore it as best they can. They just need to listen to each other and the ppl they trust. It's a long season. Just focus on the process and the goals. Tune everybody including the msg boards out. VN is for fans more than anything else.

Good lord. Shut the hell up with that stuff. Butch make millions a year and has had his contract extended every year even though we've lost to almost every rival every year. He's been a great recruiter and program ambassador. But this far a very average coach. Any criticism is fair. His recruits came through yesterday. Not his gameplaning

If you tell someone that, then you should be able to handle someone telling you to shut up. Shut up. The constant whining, complaining, *****ing about every thing Butch does is beyond ridiculous. There are an handful of you guys on here that are never happy and think that you actually know more than Butch and Shoop. Say what you want about him but he is not by no means an average coach. Ask VFL34. You wont though.

In a year with the moto "Own it" please stop with the media hurt my feeling boohoo bs. He got a great win after laying several eggs "Own it" and stop crying about the media. When he wins like the red teams coach then he can act like the red teams coach.

Its only fair to point out the strange attitude some of you have towards the most winning coach that we have had in over a DECADE. ;)

I'll help him pack. He beat a bad Florida team and acts like he's won a natti. In just four short years he's turned us into a powerhouse that should be ranked somewhere between #20 and #30 in the country. Great job coach you've managed to turn a team that for the last two years has been as talented as anyone in the country into a middle of the road team that is capable of beating other mediocre teams or losing to anyone. You're making millions a year and doing a subpar job so shut up about the media you deserve every bit of the criticism you've gotten. If you don't like it leave. The next coach will have us in playoff w current roster and u will be exposed for the clown u are

Speaking of clowns

The loco local media. He sure called them out. Second or third sentence of post game press conference. That small market local mentality media ruining the program. What the heck you guys saying?

This is EVERY big fanbase. It's so concentrated on this board that we overdramatize the severity.

Please stop smoking, you sound stupid. Debord and Shoop are extensions of Butch. You act as if the players were just put there running around with no plan whatsoever.

BS Butch is completely correct. The local media, the worst in the Nation, tries to find any and everything negative about our football program and run it into the ground. The media and a couple of handful of posters enjoy bashing Tennessee sports more than eating, drinking and are totally unappreciative of what Butch Jones has done for our Football Program, the Tennessee athletic Department, and the University as a whole. Congratuations to Coach and his Assistants on their progress in rebuilding our Athletic Program and restoring our Football Program to where it should have been for the last 10-12 years.

So do you idiots want him to speak his mind or continue with coach speak?

Apparently you're not happy with either so maybe he should just shut his mouth completely and not fulfill his media obligation?

SMFH.

That was nothing more of the release of the tension and pressure that he claimed didn't exist before the game. You are reading WAY too much into it. If he leaves because the media is critical in a "small market" then he needs to find a hole somewhere. NO big time program has a coach that isn't subject to heavy scrutiny and sometimes criticism.

Jones was under the pressure not only of 11 years but his last two years.

Thankfully, that's past now.

Yeah he's not going to leave because of the media. I always like it when a coach says something to them. Most good coaches do that from time to time.

I don't blame Butch to use the leverage of the win to push back against the media some. That being said the streak and getting over the hump were a big story. No doubt this cast a shadow over the team in the first half and they played tight. It was a story unique to this game and series.

Glad the Vols broke through. Local media should learn. Butch is earning the right to dictate the narrative.

Dang folks in stating my opinion; the same as you. So if I've got this right, we beat a mediocre fl team and all is forgiven. We forget losing to them the past two years due to boneheaded decisions by Butch and the boys when we were clearly far more talented. We forget games like Oklahoma where we had em on the ropes and let em get back up. We forget wide receiver u has turned into blocking u. I realize tn looked great in second half but in 4 football games we have played 2 good halves. That's a problem. Maybe I'm spoiled by the tn teams of the 90s and early 2000s. Just one question then bash away. When fulmer, richt, saban, harbough, Or Meyer took over their programs how long did it take them to Begin winning and winning big???

This is hysterical. If you can't enjoy this win, buddy, you're not ever going to enjoy Tennessee football. I'd find something else to spend my time, energy and money on if I were you. I'm 37 and have been going to Neyland since I was in the womb. This was the greatest comeback victory that I can remember since we overcame a 24 point deficit to beat Notre Dame in South Bend in 1991. I really can't remember the last time I felt this great the day after gameday. I actually feel bad for you.

I have took the wait and see approach on CBJ, but I get so tired of people saying we lost to a Florida team that was far less talented than us the last 2 years. I agree he made bad coaching decisions in those games but go check and see how many of the Florida players was drafted by the NFL off those last 2 teams and then tell me how many were drafted from UT.

Dude, how about a little credit to Butch for learning from his mistakes? Yeah, he blew some really bad games last year by puckering up late in the 4th. He's since upgraded our D Coordinator in a major way with a guy who makes nasty in-game adjustments. And yesterday he did not take his foot off the gas. He is improving and we're undefeated. Enjoy that for a minute.

This.. At some point everyone should at least be happy enough to shut up for a few days.

If beating Florida doesn't do that for him, nothing ever will...

I honestly am glad someone is finally telling them how bad they are. We have had to listen to the local media run down Tennessee football for a long time.
