We got hosed by Ref Joe Lindsay

Not sure what this attachment is, but it is not the replay that showed the ball going off the players foot. That replay pretty clearly showed the ball hitting the Purdue player's foot, and was from an end court angle, not a mid court angle like this appears to be. This attachment doesn't show anything useful.

Sure it does. It's the other angle after the block. The baseline angle appears to go off the left foot, but this angle shows the ball is nowhere near that foot.

Calm down. If the guys would have played hard for 40 minutes, we would have won. We didn’t put a full game together all season. Our seniors came out flat. Our star player fouled when he didn’t need to in the first and second half. Our point guard with elite speed didn’t use his advantage much(he got blocked on a few possessions, but he could have used his speed to wear them down). Our top free throw shooter missed five free throws. Our coach never attempted to adjust his defense, even after every team seemed to shoot over their season average from three. The refs weren’t great, but we didn’t put ourselves in a position to win that game.
B****hit. This type of justification is why refs continue to get away with no accountability. In a close game, Purdue got every, single, call. They missed more free throws than we did. We lost because of officiating. NO OTHER REASON.

In the first half after Bone's three point shot in the first few seconds, Tennessee scored 15 points in approximately the next fifteen minutes. These long droughts have killed Tennessee plus Lindsaythe e ref made the horrible call against Turner at the end. Does Barnes during the game ever challenge the referees or just talk about how nice the weather is in Louisville. What a terrible way to end the season....Also Tennessee shot 50 % from the foul line !!!!

Rough call at the end of regulation - Turner also had to come down somewhere and Edwards kickout is the perception of contact. Lucky that Edwards missed the first free throw or there may have been a near riot following the game. There were some marginal calls that went against Purdue earlier in the game but the timing and absolute bailout nature of this call in an NCAA Sweet 16 match-up is a head scratchier. Of course better free throw shooting by either team would have avoided this drama - both teams gave it 100% and this was a phenomenal game.

It is much better to have this great team remembered as getting hosed by a questionable call to end their season than a blowout loss with nightmare free throw shooting which was the scenario that looked probable at halftime. I wonder if Turner could have played this weekend with his leg and foot problems - he sure is a warrior.

No it wasn’t. It could have gone either way, but when viewed from above, it sure looked like some of the ball was over the rim (albeit a very small part). Again, could have gone either way.

The ball was not off Edwards at the end of regulation, and that was a legit foul call on Turner.

Now, I feel like they let Edwards push off too much with an extended arm way too many times, but that didn’t cause us to lose.
I do think Lamonte bumped into him a little. I think it’s an extremely tough call to make in that moment though because the shot was off before any contact and the contact was slight. I saw plenty of other shots with more contact than that throughout the game with no call. Lamonte bumping him had no effect on whether or not the shot was going in.

To me, you unintentionally highlighted why this one stings so much. We didn’t give it 100% in the first half. Purdue killed us on the boards that half and we didn’t attack the basket most of the half. The second half we did attack the basket and played hard and look what happened, even with Purdue still shooting well.

This is true. When they review a play for time, it is when the ref's arm goes into the air.
It didn’t matter because they gave us no time but I love how the game ended before anyone even touched the ball on that last inbound play. I didn’t like our strategy at the end. If you are going to go for the TO then you have to throw it across halfcourt to get the TO. With under 2 second there’s no time for a second pass.

How does a game end when the ball hasn't been touched yet....The buzzer sounded when it was in the air....This can't be right.

Unfortunately in the heat of the moment, Turner got too close to the shooter, and let the ref decide the game...Forget the missed free throws, and all the rest, if Turner doesn't barely touch the shooter, Vols win.

It was exciting, but what a heart breaker.

They hit 65% in the first half, and 55% for the game. They could afford to miss free throws. We couldn't, yet still missed them.

First half we played horrible , second half was a great basketball game for everyone , overtime sucked , refs ( meh ) .. Great fun season , I’m proud of everything they accomplished , GO VOLS !!!

This team Has been a pleasure to follow this season. They are such a class act and to have their season taken away by an official is downright atrocious, but typical for Tennessee sports. The foul on the 3 pointer was complete BS. In addition, the ball went off their players ankle and the officials couldn't even get it right after reviewing the call. Joe Lindsay was the official that stole our Elite 8 and possible Final 4. We are now 3-3 this year in games he has called. So 3 of our 6 losses were officiated by the same official. He called 6 of our 7 fouls in the first half tonight. Joe Lindsay also called the foul on LaMonte Turner with 1 second left that let Purdue tie the game which even the pundits are already talking about what a bad call that was. Let that sink in for a minute. Thanks Joe Lindsay for ruining what was going to be an historic season in Tennessee basketball history.

I didn't like the call either but to win big games teams have to keep themselves out of situations where one call can mean the game...I'm no basketball phenom but playing 2 full halves instead of just picking one to show up in would have probably done the trick.....

Meanwhile Zion knocks folks around like bowling pins and the refs choke on it
Guarantee if we had beenDuke, NC, or KY, there would have been a 5 second call on Purdue before the foul on LaMonte. I recorded it and have watched several times and get to 6 seconds every single time. We're cursed when it comes to officiating. Gotta be a Blue blood to get calls like that.

Yep, not sure where Schofiled was in the first half, he always seems to show up for 1 half instead of 2. Still one of my favorite all time players and we will miss him regardless of what Williams and Bone do.

Or if they come out with some intensity and focus that first half we win. I think this will haunt these guys forever because they went down due to that lack of intensity and focus. They’ll always wonder “what if” and so will the fans because they didn’t “leave it all on the court” for 40 minutes. I say 40 because the extra 5 wouldn’t have happened.

That was a really fun last 10 minutes of regulation. Once UT got back in the game, both teams were throwing haymakers the last 4 minutes of regulation. I really thought UT had the momentum to win in regulation after getting back in the game and seemingly seizing all the momentum, but that Cline kid was out of his mind hitting those 3s with a hand in his face. And our guys were answering with 3s of their own. It's always tough to lose in OT after fighting your way back in, but hard to hang your head when you play well enough to win but the other team just does a little more to win. We had our chances at the end of regulation to seal it if we had hit a couple of FTs in the last couple of possessions, but we were uncharacteristically bad at the FT line in that game. But this season was a really fun ride.

We can kick and scream all we want about the refs but we didn’t deserve to win this game. The refs didn’t cause us to be down by 18 points. The refs didn’t cause us to miss an atrocious number of free-throws. We did that to ourselves. All it took was for one made free-throw and the game never would have made it to overtime to begin with. So stop belly-aching over the refs and start holding our players responsible for once. They haven’t yet learnt how to gaurd a 3. Alexander left his man open numerous times under the goal. Grant continues to make bad passes and turn the ball over. Schofield would be tremendous if he could shoot good for two halves. Bowden couldn’t make a free-throw if his life depended on it. Bone needs to get up court and run the offense instead of seeing how many times he can dribble behind his back or between his legs in one possession. Barns needs to learn to call a timeout when the other team starts pulling ahead. Don’t wait until it’s a 10-0 run. Oh and the refs made two bad calls. But it’s the refs fault we lost. Quit kidding yourself.

After watching game again I counted 35 Shots by Perdue in Tennessee where the player was made contact from a Defender and over half of those the ball was still in the hands of the shooter and no foul was called and you're telling me the last shot of the game contact is made the ball is out of the shooter's hand and you make a call at that point to decide the game ridiculous

This is what frustrates me most. If that was a legit foul (which it wasn't btw... but let's pretend) then let's be consistent and call it that was every time. Probably gonna need to make a few changes though.... You're gonna need to raise the foul limit to about 12 unless you wanna see 3 on 3 games in the second half cause that amount of contact happens on about every possession. Also the networks should probably start allotting 4 hours a piece for most of these games cause it's gonna take a while.
