Apparently the US was keeping abreast of the Scottish referendum earlier this year.

http://rt.com/news/219827-scottish-referendum-us-interest/

Why can't this country ever just let others be? Why do we have to stay informed about political situations in other countries? Why do we have freedom of information acts? Why are our own intelligence agencies so good they inform people of such things? Why can't Scotland just be free? Why does America have to get involved in everything?

I'm so tired of this crap, I don't know what to do anymore.

Shame! Shame, shame on you, America!

Let Scotland be free!

i found this RT article to be not very RTesque. It actually presented information and it wasn't overbearingly anti-American/West. It didn't use a lot of the lingo we know and love RT for, it didn't imply America had violated any rites, of our own citizens or someone else's, it didn't even say spying (i don't think) just 'watching'.

of course most of the leg work for this article was done by someone else before RT presented it.

oh no, is RT becoming western MSM too? noooooo the last major free news outlet is dying a cholesterol based death due to too much sucking off America.

Let this be a lesson to independence seekers everywhere--we've got our eye on you!

the last major free news outlet

It's no longer a news outlet, but opinion outlet, apparently.

is that Bush or Kerry?

i think i know who it is supposed to be but it looks very similar.

Bush.

An interesting analogy drawn here between American historical circumstances and those in contemporary Ukraine.

Ukraine's Donbas Is Like America's Deep South*|*Alexander Motyl

Apparently, Ukrainian ethnic Russians' only real griefs are having a president they voted for vacate the country willingly in the middle of the night after having robbed them blind and a few members of Parliament threaten to ban the Russian language - a threat that was never fulfilled.

It kind of makes sense when you think about it. Russians have been running the show in that part of the world for centuries, just like whites have here. Once other groups start really asserting themselves, there's naturally going to be a contingent of the dominant group that thinks the world around them is falling apart due to these "uppity" other folk.

so what is this war being called? The War of Russian Aggression? The Ukrainian Civil War doesn't work as well. More fitting for the War of 1812 but the British reclaim a few colonies.

Russia faces 'perfect storm' as reserves vanish and derivatives flash default warnings - Telegraph

Credit defaults swaps (CDS) measuring bankruptcy risk for Russia spiked violently on Tuesday, surging by 100 basis points to 630, before falling back slightly.

Markit says this implies a 32pc expectation of a sovereign default over the next five years, the highest since Western sanctions and crumbling oil prices combined to cripple the Russian economy.

Total reserves have fallen from $511bn to $388bn in a year. The Kremlin has already committed a third of what remains to bolster the domestic economy in 2015, greatly reducing the amount that can be used to defend the rouble.

Very good article. That guy really writes well.

Putin’s Orthodox Jihad | The XX Committee

so we only have 50yrs left according to Chaplin

lol what
The West exported this anti-Christian virus to Russia … Having lost our bond with God and the Christian Tradition, mankind has been morally blinded, gripped by materialism, irrationalism and nihilism … In order to overcome the global moral crisis, we have to return to eternal moral values, that is faith, love, freedom, conscience, family, motherland and nation, but above all faith and love.

good to see someone else who believes us Catholics worship the anti-Christ.

also good to read that Jesus cares so much about Russia
Christ was referring to personal insults to a person, not all possible crimes; no one has the right to forgive the offenses suffered by others or provide for the villains to offend the weak, corrupt children, desecrate churches and destroy the Fatherland.

good article, not an angle i had put together. I would agree that many Europeans don't like the way things are going, however i don't think they appreciate the hot mess they would be climbing in bed with if they sided with Russia at this time. this is really starting to look more and more like WWII, which i wouldn't mind so much if we kept the nukes locked up.

After Paris: The Kremlin’s New Message | The XX Committee

After all, if we're setting up Nazi governments in Europe, what's killing a dozen people in Paris?

I'm sure Pacer is currently sitting around thinking what an astute analysis of the Charlie Hebdo attack that was, all the while shaking his head at what imbeciles we are for following CNN or the BBC every now and then.

It's kind of funny how us "not so hot on Russian intervention in Ukraine - although the pro-Russian side can't admit it even though they know it's true" side get constantly lambasted for being sheep, while the proof contrary almost always consists of Rush Limbaugh-esque articles from the opposite side.

Every time that bunch posts, I just shake my head and feel ashamed for the American education system. I feel guilty. Where did we go so wrong?

From Velo's link directly above:

"Martynov’s core belief is that Russia is constantly under threat from U.S.-led “color revolutions” and, in that sense, Kremlin aggression in Ukraine isn’t aggression at all, but a legitimate and defensive act. Like jihadists, pro-Putin propagandists see their cause as under colossal, indeed existential Western threat, so any aggression they perpetrate is, cosmically speaking, defensive in nature. This is really Oliver Stone stuff, in Russian, with a faux-academic gloss."

God, what a great quote! That Schindler, I swear, that guy can write.

He must have taken one of my comp classes at some point.

Clearly.

This seems like a legit reason to keep someone off the road.

07.01.15 Russian government has restricted the rights of LGBT, amputee and color-blind to drive a vehicle | Association Of Russian Lawyers for Human Rights

All transgender people, bigender, asexuals, transvestites, crossdressers, people who need in a sex reassignment were recognized by Russian Government as a people with the deviations. The state deprived these groups their rights to drive a vehicle.

I wonder if Ras still says Russia is freer than America?

dang you can't even wear your wife's panties now in Russia.

It's funny how the French have recently looked down on Americas involvement in Ukraine and the Middle East. The delivery of ships to Russia was also a barrier between the two.

Let's get them fully on our team...
