Sunk Cost Fallacy ruins businesses every year.
There is difference in what you world like to do and what is right in the current moment. If one of the guys on campus are capable of seamlessly running the offense and understanding defenses, so be it. If not, you get the best QB you can on a 1 year rental. GMac and Faizon have plenty of eligibility left. Extremely short-sighted viewpoint. We're talking about a guy leaving for not starting as a RS Freshman.
I can only imagine how much this conversation changes if we played GMac and lost to Florida.
6th all-time in bowl appearancesHistory, yes, budgets, yes, but success, we are not top 10. There have been too many years that this program has been second tier SEC.
You are still midtier SEC and have not competed for a conference championship in 27 years. We only have history to celebrate.6th all-time in bowl appearances
10th in claimed national titles
11th all-time in wins
11th best all-time winning percentage
12th in NFL draft picks
14th in # of All-Americans
14th in AP poll appearances
OK, top 11/12 program all-time, success-wise. Still top 5/top 10 in current resources. The current program needs to step up so the output becomes commensurate with the input.
You're the one who brought up money. Awful funny of you to bring up how much we paid for someone and then scoff at someone relating a business principle to.....a business. You're trying to apply business principles to CFB???
Good Lord. Thank you for the laugh. Been a weird day and I have honestly been sitting here chuckling for like 2 minutes
Im afraid things are a bit more complex than that.
There's a lot of egos involved here. Heupels. The players themselves. Also the people who have thrown down the money to pay all those cushy NIL deals for players who are never allowed to see the field.
Last thing Heupel wants right now is for boosters to start questioning his evaluations. Getting harder and harder for me to justify that monthly debit to Spyre, etc when I know my money has gone to Nico, Boo, Legend Bey, Matthews, etc etc etc.
Now-dom't think i honestly believe that my little donations mean anything in the grand scheme of things. Just a drop in a bucket. I also suspect that I am not the only person who is starting to ask some very difficult questions though
Well, Heupel's offense is QB friendly. He has been an SEC QB so he knows what to expect. He was also Bama's offense this year as they had a very minimal run game. He is a little quicker than Joey, but to me has more wiggle and better/faster decision making on when to take off. Also Bama's OL was no where near what they were in the past. I think he could be really good to boarderline great here. JmO so take it with a grade of slaw from a moranCould we realistically do any better than Simpson? Not trying to say anything wrong about the kid, just curious.
What about that UNLV QB that hit the portal?
See that’s where I think the problem lies. Money. We all know we need tons of help on defense and on both lines of scrimmage honestly. I have seen people on here say oh well QB is the most important position. Maybe so but if we had last years defense with this years offense, we maybe lose one game and are in the playoffs. For me, it comes down to money. If we have no budget and can fill all the other needs we have to address and still meet Simpsons asking price, I say go for it.
If we are dealing with firm lines on the budget, I'd rather address the rest of the roster and bring in an affordable option like some of these lower level and that won't break the bank and let him compete with GMac and Brandon next season.
With that schedule, we ain't sniffin' the playoffs. We'll be lucky to get 6 wins. Rebuild the smart way. Don't overspend on any position and that includes qb.
I see where you're coming from, but are we so conditioned that 3.5 million dollars is seen as a bargain for a 22 year old kid to play a game?He wants $3-$3.5 mil which is way less than Soresby at $5 mil or Leavit at $4 mil.
And think, this is only the beginning. How soon until we see a $10 milllion dollar QB? I give it less than 5 years.I see where you're coming from, but are we so conditioned that 3.5 million dollars is seen as a bargain for a 22 year old kid to play a game?
I know how we got here, but what stuns me is how quickly it all happened. Seems like yesterday we, the University of Tennessee, stunned college football by paying team Nico $2m. This is insane.
You’re so inspiring.Always depressing to read these threads and see so many people clamoring for other people's rejects lol.
Arguing Bamas trash could be Tennessee's treasure is kinda weird but whatever.
Heupel really needs to decide if he is gonna develop a QB or just grab a starter from the portal each year. I don't care what we do, but we can't do both.
Personally, I say we let GMac and Brandon battle it out in the spring and whoever wins wins. Let them take their lumps next year when we have a brutal schedule and then see what happens afterwards
2025 was a waste. There is no excuse for Joey Aguilar to ever take another meaningful snap after the Oklahoma game. Once playoff contention was out, we needed to be looking to the future. Not wasting our time trying to preserve our one year rentals streak of 200 yard games.
