Ty Simpson?

Very accurate. We are a College Football Blueblood. One of College Footballs top brands. We check every box there is.
Multiple National Championships over last 100 years. Legendary, mythical coach- Neyland. Iconic stadium that everyone knows by name. Most recognizable field with our checkerboard endzones. Smokey the bluetick hound as our mascot that everyone knows by name. Peyton Manning the legendary College and Pro player. Most recognizable fight song in College Football. The power T on our helmets. We are in the SEC.

I realize we all know these things but stop and think about some other Bluebloods. What is the Southern Cal fight song? What is the name of the Michigan mascot? What is the name of Oklahoma’s stadium?

It’s great to be a Tennessee Vol.
Spot on, although in today’s climate, the only thing that matters is how much are you spending on players and how much revenue are you earning? Still, we’re top ten in those metrics too (#9 in NIL spending this year, #4 in revenue, 9th most valuable college football program, according to The Athletic), but the output needs to start being commensurate with the input.

Always depressing to read these threads and see so many people clamoring for other people's rejects lol.

Arguing Bamas trash could be Tennessee's treasure is kinda weird but whatever.

Heupel really needs to decide if he is gonna develop a QB or just grab a starter from the portal each year. I don't care what we do, but we can't do both.

Personally, I say we let GMac and Brandon battle it out in the spring and whoever wins wins. Let them take their lumps next year when we have a brutal schedule and then see what happens afterwards

2025 was a waste. There is no excuse for Joey Aguilar to ever take another meaningful snap after the Oklahoma game. Once playoff contention was out, we needed to be looking to the future. Not wasting our time trying to preserve our one year rentals streak of 200 yard games.
The first young QB he had a real shot at "developing" decided to be a diva and left after his redshirt freshman year. Developing doesn't mean ready to go after a redshirt year or stepping in as a true freshman. This fanbase doesn't have the patience for a young QB to "take their lumps". We have to get the best QB we can to compete until the young QBs are more seasoned.

I think that a true dual threat QB under CJH would be the move. Our Offense is really good considering the talent and drama. But our offense sputters against top 20 teams. A mobile QB would pick up those 1st downs. They would keep drives alive. Pair that with a revitalized D, and we become a top 5 team.
I'd rather have a QB with a quick mind than quick feet

......and if you don't play the younger QBs (especially GMac) this season then they are gone

We will have invested $5 million in the guy to never see the field.

Our high school QB recruiting will go from stratospheric to meh because big time recruits want to play

By the time the 2026 season rolls around, GMac will have been in the system for 21 months by game 1.

Like I said, I don't really care if the are a team that recruits from high schools or a team that assaults the portal every year and MAYBE sign 5 hs kids.

I do know though that you can't do both and do either well

As I have said many many times on this borard-as soon as the clock hit :00 in the Oklahoma game-there was 0 reason for Joey Aguilar to ever take another snap for UT.

We needed to be planning for the future at the point. What did we do though? Waste our time trying to get him 200 yards/gm. Absolute madness

If he is that great would that not make him the top QB in the portal over the other two guys people are clamouring for that were already in the portal ? If not why is he must have here ?

I feel like we are spending a lot of time talking about a situation I'm not even sure has a 1% chance of working out.

Could be wrong, have been before plenty of times.

Sunk Cost Fallacy ruins businesses every year.

There is difference in what you world like to do and what is right in the current moment. If one of the guys on campus are capable of seamlessly running the offense and understanding defenses, so be it. If not, you get the best QB you can on a 1 year rental. GMac and Faizon have plenty of eligibility left. Extremely short-sighted viewpoint. We're talking about a guy leaving for not starting as a RS Freshman.

I can only imagine how much this conversation changes if we played GMac and lost to Florida.
