To Protect and to Serve II

I get what these Sheriff's, Chiefs of Police, State Trooper Superintendents and what not are saying, and I agree. But it's just grandstanding for their voters, IMO. The Use of Force Continuum is pretty much the same nationwide. While some jurisdictions...Portland, Seattle, Minneapolis, to name a few...have been neutered by their elected and/or appointed leaders, the main reason this BLM/Antifa violence has not spread nationwide is because, for the most part, they know what will happen when the first rock / frozen water bottle / poop bag / paint bag / projectile hits a peace officer.

Down my way, Atlanta and Jacksonville are good examples of low tolerance. Charlotte? marcus?

And I have no idea where or when, but if this BS keeps up, some place is going to serve as "Example A".

Maybe "Commander Red" will be there to lead the charge....;)

@Tyler Durden
I’m fact I think there should be a sentence multiplier for being a police officer and committing a crime. Very much like we treat hate crimes now.
Nah, I’ll settle for them being held to the same standard as everyone else. Hate crimes are stupid too. Illegal is illegal no need for special circumstances.

I agree on the hate crime. Poor example on my part.
The police is one position that needs to be respected to maintain order. The only way to get that level of respect is to demand it.

We need a much higher standard for police.
We need to maintain that standard by oversight in the hands of an independent group.
Increase pay to bring in better officers.
And increased punishment for those who violate that standard.

Police officers are tasked to enforce the law, that’s it. They aren’t special in any way, they’re still civilians. There’s no need for higher standards or any of that. That whole demand respect thing is a very slippery slope imo.

The elephant in the room is the drug war. End it and policing will improve because cops will be able to handle the truly violent criminals who are among us.

I will agree with the independent review board. However, police unions will never allow it to come to fruition. Speaking of... why do police unions exist in the first place?

The war on drugs is the biggest bunch of garbage ever dumped on the American public.
It’s time to decriminalize all drugs.

And it’s time to be rid of the police Union. I have no idea why they are needed or exist.

And for not obeying a command, the proper response is to empty your magazine as the assailant is walking away from (or parallel to) you?

We could probably learn something from Colombian cops... Amazing thing is that the cop dropped his night stick as he charged the guy. Nobody died.

[youtube]

They still average 170-200 killings per year......we need to give our police better less lethal ways of dealing with a violent non-compliant public..... they can’t use night clubs, choke holds, knees in neck area.... knee in low back.... the gazers seems to be pieces of sh&t.....every single time someone dies from a police maneuver they outlaw it which really handicaps what the cops are able to do....it reminds me of skilled nursing facilities.... they won’t allow side rails on beds anymore bc 1 out of 25,000,000 residents had an accident related to them that resulted in serious injury.

Our police force needs to be retrained. Right now it seems that they believe they are trained a military force and the public is the enemy. Perhaps they should spend a little more time getting to know the people and business owners in their patrol areas and a little less time sitting in parking lots trying to nab speeders.
So if cops go around and say hi then less people will want to fight them?

That’s bad.
Lets forget about the alleged victim here. Lets observe and discuss the cops involved. These guys were in each others lines of fire and these guys were spraying and praying all over the damn neighborhood endangering people downfield and their own fellow officers. I really do think that the police forces attract people that just want to play cops and robbers and find any excuse they can to fire off a weapon.
