70-80% of people i dealt with when i was on the streets "trust" the police and are cordial and respectful.People tend to trust people they know. Ridding themselves of the crappy image they have goes a long way.
I know if I was a cop I would vote for a police union..... police unions are no different than any other unions.... they are they to fight for the employees.....Police unions keep bad officers on the force. there is no need for the police union.
Why do you suppose the police unions are consistently opposed to outside oversight for officers?
Thatโs not entirely true but they can definitely be a bad things at times...... that decision is up to the employees that vote to have one or vote to get rid of it........ I know one time I worked at a job where the union wanted to come in..... management found about it and we got all kinds of perks bc they didnโt want us in a union.Unions are completely useless and are destructive to every industry where they are in use. The need for unions in most cases has passed.

15 years ago, I would have agreed with you. But I do believe you are 90% correct. I think you have a few (very few) good unions and a lot of bad ones. Just speaking from my experience, I think the IBEW is a good group. I think the UAW, police unions and most govt employee unions are useless and paint a pizz pour picture of unions and do labor unions a disservice.
I guess I like the IBEW is that they do establish a set of standards for their apprentices and seems like they are involved in trying to train their workforce. And quite frankly, I don't think they have done enough to protect American jobs from illegal aliens and foreigners taking their work here at home.
But maybe that is just my experience.
