New York brothers wake up to find intruder, beat and stab burglar to death, cops say

Two brothers who woke up to an intruder in their home took matters into their own hands Monday morning, beating the suspected burglar with a baseball bat and stabbing him to death, police said. A 26-year-old man allegedly broke into a house around 2:45 a.m. Monday in the St. Albans neighborhood of Queens when he encountered the two brothers, ages 16 and 27, FOX5NY reported.

At least one of the men reportedly confronted the man, hit him with a baseball bat and stabbed him. It was unclear if one or both brothers were involved in the incident.

Police arrived at the scene to find the alleged burglar, who was not immediately identified, with head trauma and stab wounds to his torso. He was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.

No arrests have been made and police are investigating the incident.

That story reminds me of this one:

The Marine and Police Report

Justice served instantly. Wow. Situational awareness is important. If he were aware of the marines at the door, he could have chosen differently. I talk to my son about this from time to time...dont sit with your back to the door in any public place, or even a private home that's unfamiliar...take inventory of your surroundings when you enter a new place. Make eye contact with those in your immediate area if possible, etc. He is still an oblivious teenager, but hopefully he will wise up a bit .

There needs to be some digging there.
I didn't say it shouldn't be an investigation. But on the surface, I can see that situation being a bit difficult for most to maneuver in.

Far cry from a guy in the middle of a hotel hallway getting shot because he couldn't play Simon Says or the Hokey Pokey.

I saw a report the wife had stepped out and informed the police he (the husband) was in the house.

For one to normally blast cops for itchy trigger fingers, you're unusually...calm.

Yeah, I read that... in fact I read the article one more time to see if anything else jumped out at me. I think I'm going to stick with my original assumption (for now) that this was just an unfortunate error.

WTF kind of drugs do they have you on?

You're liking my posts, you're taking the cops' side...

Is the Rapture upon us or something?

I've liked several of your posts... you just know it with the new set up now.

I haven't changed... don't worry. I'm sure we'll bump heads soon enough.

I do think there's more to it than that.

Did the guy flag the cops on the outside? That's the main question that needs to be asked. Did they announce their presence? So on and so forth. Yeah, he likely shouldn't have gone out armed, but I'm wondering what kind of time transpired between the exit and the shooting.

The cops were in a lose lose situation. If they shoot too soon they're labeled murderers, executioners, etc.... wait like they did and an innocent bystander is killed....

Did the guy actually slice her throat?
Yeah, he did. Horrible situation all around. I would’ve liked to have seen the cop in front of the guy take the shot. Sad...

I would like to see the bodycam, from outside the residence...if she CLEARLY told cops that the assailant was NAKED and her husband wasnt, but was in the house...like I understand it...I do believe the cops are at fault. It's easy to see the difference between a naked man and a clothed man..especially when you are trained to notice these things, and assess any situation mentally before using deadly force...American Hero was killed in his own home for protecting his family, I know it wasnt malicious, but that doesn't mean it isn't grossly negligent...it will cost taxpayers millions, just like the 49 year old lady if she has any family...

An unfortunate set of circumstances. Not sure how much you can blame cops for that.
