Thoughts after game 1?

Defense is bad just like last season. It’ll keep us from winning 10. Gave up nearly 400 yards to ball state and 0 sacks. Tim banks is still Tim Banks next weekend will be a shootout.

Where did we rank in 3rd down conversions last year? We will be just as good and likely better this year.

I’ll answer for you. We ranked 9th out of 130 teams.

We used the vanilla excuse for Jeremy Pruitt too. How did that go? Defense was bad last year, so far although early it doesn’t look good either. 0 sacks is embarrassing against Ball state

Completion % and accuracy are not the same. I could complete 100% if I were just throwing jet sweeps all night. That doesn’t mean I’m an accurate QB. Rather I’m a washed up old man. So, yes. He needs to improve his accuracy.

We should be able to take more than what the defense gives us against such low level competition. We lacked explosive plays even with our first team

59 points and we called off the dogs with 22 minutes remaining. You will never be satisfied.

No one expects to win a NC. We lose to Alabama and Georgia and win two out of three minimum against LSU,Florida and Pitt. 9 wins is the floor after watching last nights game. I’m very optimistic regarding the future of UT football with Heupel.

I’m not saying a NC is my expectation. I am saying our play in multiple areas has to be vastly improved.

Why do we have to explain this over and over. Ball was out in less than 3 seconds most of the game. You have to teleport to the damn QB to sack him with that quick of a release. Put down the madden on rookie and have some realistic expectations

We scored 59 points and likely would have scored 80 with the first team with vanilla playcalling on both sides of the ball. Penalties were not a problem. Beasley and Haddon looked improved. Wr’s unit is unstoppable. I could go on and on. Pittsburgh is overrated and Florida and LSU are unknown entities at this time with new head coaches.

Ok here’s a time machine: you can go back to the first play of the game and the BS QB holds the ball instead of trying to throw it away. You get a Beasley sack instead of a McDonald INT.

What type of criticism though? We know our roster. It's not upper level in most places. We have to wait until next season to add new players. So if this is how you're starting out, I'd hate to see where it's headed. Holding Ball State to 10 is ok, and we build from there.

Scoring 38 in the first half and 59 total certainly makes them explosive…….I guess unless maybe they were playing a D2 team, which they don’t play.

10 yards per attempt = pretty dang good…….did I mention “attempt.”

Tennessee had 8 runs or pass completions for 19 yards or more.

Tennessee had 20 runs or pass completions for 10 yards or more.

Tennessee also kept the ball about the same amount of time as Ball……which was a big concern coming off last year.

What more do some of you people want? Seriously?

Dude your nuts if you think this team isn’t explosive, just because it didn’t happen tonight and we took what they gave us. But by all means keep talking bad about us and make yourself look clueless as the season moves on! GBO!!!!

I’m not sure we win 2/3 of those games. Our tackling on defense was bad. We had multiple times we hit them behind the line of scrimmage and they managed to turn it into a 3-5 yard gain.
