If so, they have not done a proper workout. A properly done HIUT workout will drain the most ardent athlete.
Tennys Sandgren was an all-american tennis player for the Vols last year and is playing professionally these days.
This is one of the most wildly uninformed posts I've ever seen on VN, and that is a seriously high bar.
By that logic, most great athletes would make for at least decent coaches, but it's never the case. You can probably count on one hand all the guys in history that were both great players and coaches in the NFL, for instance.
I do controlled lifts, and will do negatives on the last couple reps of my last set to failure.
Because, knowledge and execution are two completely separate things. Your claims become more and more outrageous with each post.
That's not my point. The knowledge another person has isn't what made an elite athlete what they are in most cases. Would you let a 300lb out of shape person that came to the gym with a bag of Cheetos be your personal trainer even if he was "knowledgable"? Would you take a golf lesson from a person who shanked the ball & played like a 30 handicap?
The thing is, your points are all bad, so I don't know what to make of them.
Someone who knows a lot about proper technique may not be an elite athlete. Someone who is an elite athlete may need coaching on their technique. Get the coach to give his knowledge to the athlete. What's hard to understand about this concept?
It's what we were talking about at the time but there are lifts negatives are not worth doing or virtually impossible.
All Tiger needs is somebody to hold a camera & tell him nice shot. If you're not in better shape than me & you're not better or ever was at something than me how can you really train/teach me?
You're really reaching. Nobody would expect Tiger to ever be a swing instructor or Ronnie Coleman to be a personal trainer.

Then don't bother responding. Coaching isn't what we're talking about FYI. Personal training on an elite athlete level isn't about teaching a person technique.
????
You were literally just talking about coaching. Or is swing technique not actually a technique, but actually based solely on how much weight you can bench?
Also, personal training is teaching a technique. Maybe someone has physical/genetic shortcomings that prevent them from reaching an elite level, but they have the know-how to get there.
I think you argue just to argue. You're never wrong.
I'm not aware of any.
I can do negatives to absolute failure without a spotter on 90% of what I do. There is only one upper body lift I can think of that this is not true of, and that's barbell press. Since I only do that once a month (I prefer DB's), I usually don't have need for a spotter.
How are you doing negatives to failure without a spotter? Thanks for trying. Show me a negative with cleans.
I don't really understand the question. You act like you have me trapped, but the answer is so obvious I don't even know how to respond.
I don't do cleans. I would if I were trying out for football in the fall, but since I'm just interested in shaping I don't waste my time.
