Srs question: what's the point of using straps?

And I say no to gloves

Never used straps but I'm about to invest in some. They make it easier to grip the weight if your grip strength can't handle the workload.

The only place I ever found straps really needed is deadlifts. What happens is your grip wears out before the muscles you are working do (back). So with the straps you can go to failure, where your grip would give before you could.

The problem though is you don't develop your forearm/grip by using them. So it's kind of a catch 22.

Straps make if easier to pick up & hold heavier weight without losing your grip. If you're shrugging 400lbs you wanna focus on working the muscle & not holding the weight.

Got a pair of Nike Pro Combat compression shorts today, hopefully I'll be more comfortable while running/biking/lifting at the gym from now on.

Grip. I try and rock climb and do wrist curls to keep my strength up... But there's still absolutely no way I could get close to shrugging what I do without straps. Even with cross grip (which I recommend fully if you insist on bare-handing DL's/shurgs/etc).

They will really help with the rubbing issues.
I recommend Astroglide for this.

I use straps on heavy days for rows, shrugs, deadlifts, and weighted pullups. On high rep days I don't use them in order to keep my grip strong, and I supplement that with a forearm workout.

I bet you supplement that with a lot of forearm workouts. :p

Shoulders and arms today. Looking forward to hitting it today. Took a few days off after legs last week. Nearly killed me. My legs were jello for 4 days.

Tried 1 M.R. as a pre-workout tonight. I thought it was decent. Thoughts?

Did nothing for me really. It's ok, but feels the same as some caffeine pills.

Jack3d, Code Red, and AlphaFury is what I alternate.

I use jack3d too but it seems to lose some fizzle after you take it for a few weeks. When you first start it only takes a couple minutes to kick in.

That's why its getting more popular to rotate between 2 or 3 different ones. It's worked really well for me.

I second this; I've completely stopped using Jack3d because it literally fizzled down to almost nothing for me.

Code Red and AlphaFury. I've had success with all.

I already have the 1 M.R. that I've started taking, and I just bought some Jack3d.

When you mention cycling between the supplements, do you mean like switch every other day or taking a few weeks of one and then a few weeks of the other?

Might be a stupid question, but I honestly would like to know.

Jack3d was okay for about the first week.

I'm sticking with Green Mag and might try out their White Flood.

I've used Jack3d exclusively for six months (always on an empty stomach) and it's worked well for me.

I started swapping every two weeks, but now I alternate every trip to the gym which is Tue., Thur., and Sun. for me. I haven't found any hard data saying what's best, probably no real conclusive time anyway, but it takes the average person 6 weeks to change a body habit or tolerance so anything less is fine I would think. Most PWOs are basically the same, but just different enough to stay "fresh" when alternated.
