Yes creatine is not a steroid, doesn't mean there's no benefit in cycling it. My body gets accustomed to it after a short time and there's no further benefit that I can discern, thus I don't waste my money.

Can anyone tell me what creatine does? I've read it makes you slower, and if that's the case, I can't get any slower. I'm already looking to get alot faster for football.

If anything it makes you faster. Creatine helps improve lean muscle & makes you more explosive. Creatine is absorbed in the muscles & helps prevent muscle fatigue & speed recovery. Basically you get more out of your workouts by not fatiguing as soon & your muscles recovering faster.

It kind of depends on you and how you train. If you train for speed while you take it you're not likely to get slower, and you possibly might get faster.

There is only one reason that you might get slower: you gain weight. There are probably a lot of people that took creatine and got slower (diet changed, stopped training for speed, etc.) Doesn't mean it will happen to you. If you do feel like you get slower then just stop using creatine when the season rolls around.

I'm going supplement-less for a while(not giving up protein) and going to see how that goes.

Primarily stimulants?

I do that one month out of every year, give up caffeine. I don't drink coffee so preworkouts are about the only place I get them. After that month though, wow do I workout hard.

Anybody tried VPX products? I met a rep and he gave me a tub of NO Shotgun and a couple of Redlines. I haven't tried either yet though, maybe the NO Shotgun tomorrow? Any thoughts?

I got a friend who takes the shotgun & he says it's pretty good.

That's how I roll. Whey protein isolate just because it's hard to get enough in a regular diet.

I figure if I need it I can just put back a cup or two of coffee before a workout. Can't go without whey, though.

A lot of things that you need are hard to get with a regular diet, unless you go crazy planning it. I did that for a while, which managed to suck about an hour out of every day. I'd rather buy nutritional supplements and just avoid fast food and HFCS (which is difficult enough in and of itself). Makes my life easier.

PS, ended workout tonight with 100 burpees broken down into 4 sets, then remembered why I don't do burpees all that often.

I have had a revelation. Working a muscle group once a week is plenty enough to still be able to make strength gains. I didn't believe it until now. And I've had less injuries.

I'm in week 6 of a circuit training routine. 3 days a week. Pushes, Legs, Pulls. Whey Protien (25g every 3 hrs), I'm up 16 lbs since I started. Looking to gain 10 more.
