The Official Indianapolis Colts Thread

Interesting fact that I learned on Saturday is that Brian Polian, one of Bill's sons, is on the staff at Stanford. Pretty sure the Colts know EVERYTHING there is to know about Andrew Luck.

I hope Luck is the biggest bust of all time. Hater? Yes, I am. :)

I hope they don't follow the same path they did with Peyton, I hope they put talent around him on both sides of the ball. There are a few young players on this team that I really like, but it's time to completely rebuild. Going to be interested to see who our new coach is next season.

Report that there is a better than 50% chance that Peyton retires at the end of the season. All the talk about Peyton coaching I think is usually crap however, I think the next coaching staff would be benefited from keeping Peyton on board to tutor Luck.

If true, I can't wait for the tsunami of pleas on VN for Peyton to be hired as the HFC, or OC, at the very least, of the Vols in 2012.

This. Will. Be. Awesome.

What are the financial repercussions (for the Colts) versus releasing or trading Manning?

If Manning does retire, it wouldn't surprise me if Luck demands that he be retained as a coach. Who wouldn't want to learn from him in their rookie year?

I'll never root for the Patriots but a very small part of me wants them to kick the living *!^*# out of the Colts next week to emphasize how terrible the situation is (and to shut up Bill Polian).

Nothing irritates me like the calls for Peyton to be coach at UT. He has said he will not coach because he would hate recruiting.

When Peyton signed his deal it was really a one year deal with a 4 year extension. So if Peyton is cut or retires before March 3rd (i believe) they don't owe him anything. He is due $28 million if he is on roster on that date. A trade would be tricky I think because I don't know how many teams would want to pay that much but that is a tricky situation and I won't pretend to understand it fully.

Luck is a counselor and the Manning Passing Camp so there is a relationship there already so I think Peyton would be willing to stay on board and help Luck.

Going to get ugly, that score could be 50-10 or so, Irsay understands how bad the situation is and I believe heads will roll at seasons end.

Taking Luck with the #1 pick is no brainer. But who should the Colts take with either the first pick of the second round (or a lower first round pick due to a trade)? Are there any BIG shutdown cornerbacks around that late in the draft? I think that is the Colts next priority (lousy secondary).

Morris Claiborne from LSU is a junior.

I agree but also this team will have to get a WR. If this is the route they take they should not sign Wayne. I don't see Claiborne being there for our second pick. The secondary would be better if they got coached, Revis would look like a bad CB if he were coached to be off the receiver 7 yards than bale at the snap on every play.

I have had the same procedure done on my neck as Manning and I can't for the life of me understand why he (or anybody with a rational mind) would consider for one second continuing a career playing football. Any kind of hit that jars his head could mean him being a quad.

They should trade Wayne wherever Manning ends up. Manning is not done.

Powers is an NFL level cornerback but he's a little small in my opinion. The other side is a wasteland.

I agree that this is most likely Wayne's last year as a Colt. Great career but can't afford him and he is on the decline. Who are the first round level receivers coming out?

Everyone is different, but if this is the case for him then he won't return. Peyton is smart enough that if this were the case for him then he won't return.

I think Powers could be really good but you are right about the other side.

Blackmon and Jeffrey but I am sure both will be early picks, I don't know of any that are worthy of the 33rd pick.

I think T.Y. Hilton out of FIU could be a sleeper in this draft, he is probably at best a 3rd round pick or so. But he can also return kicks and punts.

Claiborne will be gone in the first half of the first round. Jeffery has a reputation from the 2010 season, but work ethic concerns make him much more likely to be available at 33 than Claiborne.

Unfortunately, if there aren't any changes to the front office (read:GM), they'll more likely than not just continue to do things the way they have

That is all true but I am hoping they have learned now that they have seen that does not work. Rumors are Bill is retiring at the end of the season.
