The Golf Thread

I guess a lot of of factors come into play but most standard putter grips are at least a few grams heavier than the superstroke, at least the smaller versions. I have a slim on one putter & a 2.0 on the other. Both are mallet style putters (2-ball & nike method concept) & have a little weight to them compared to what a blade style probably is.

I'd say it all depends on the dead weight of the putter head. Most newer putters tend to be heavier, so the swing weight wouldn't be affected that much. The older ones and blade models probably get more top heavy.

Get a blended set: 5-PW JPX Pro and 3/4 MP H4's. The H4's are great long irons. Hybrid-like because they are easy to hit off the fairway or 1st cut and ball flight is high and straight.

I ordered the JPX-825 pros 4-GW. Kept my tzoid pro 2 iron. I may order the highfly 3. Not sure yet.

Nike customer service is great. I took a shot in the dark & emailed them about a putter cover because when I bought mine they couldn't find the one for it. I told them I was looking for the orange one for the model I have & my situation with the golf shop & that I had searched on eBay as well as other sites. She emailed me back & said she put in a request for one. I replied back thanks for at least trying. She emailed me back within 10 minutes & said she was able to get one & for me to email my address & it would be shipped in 2-3 business days. Thought it was pretty cool to do that. Seems most golf manufacturers have great customer service.

Nike has to work harder to make up for the inferior equipment, just ask Phil

I've had a couple clubs replaced by other manufacturers too & one time it was my own fault. The shaft broke right at the hosel on one & the other jumped into a tree.

your avi is the same stick I am playing now. Still adjusting a little, but feels good when I hit it square. I just seem to be hitting too many off the toe of my long irons.

Do you have the pros or the regulars? still haven't had the chance to play mine. Been raining the past 2 weekends in Memphis.

Enough with the viewers calling in to report cheating

Sergio Garcia didn't sign for his 68 - he was five shots behind - until talking to rules officials and going over the videotape. A TV viewer said it appeared Garcia did not replace his ball in the same spot where he marked it on the 17th. Garcia, demonstrating later for reporters, said he slid the coin to the side of the ball, and turned his hand around when he replaced the ball so he wouldn't brush the coin. He said it appeared his ball was a fraction of an inch away from the original spot.

PGA Tour rules officials signed off on it, and Garcia said they even called the USGA to confirm.

''I said, 'If you guys feel like I gained something by moving it - I don't know how much, like a centimeter or couple centimeters, whatever it is - I'm fine with the two-stroke penalty. I'd rather take the two- stroke penalty than come out here like I was a cheater,''' Garcia said. ''Obviously, they felt that wasn't the case. I told them exactly what I did, and they felt it was fine.''

They've got to put in a local rule saying rulings must come from evidence gathered only from people on site. The idea that some guy can call a penalty in a sporting event from their living room is ridiculous.

Found this part interesting:

Russell, a longtime rules official, was among the officials at the Masters three weeks ago when Tiger Woods was involved in a controversial decision after he had taken an illegal drop. In that case, a viewer -- who happened to be former USGA and PGA Tour rules official David Eger -- noticed the possible infraction and got in touch with his former colleagues.

I didn't know that Tiger's viewer call in came from an actual former rules official.

Just lump the viewer call in with the anchored putting and get rid of both of them

My right elbow is key for my swing. If I keep it tucked pretty well, I usually have a good turn and hit it well. Can I go ahead and get a cord of some sort on my sleeve and shirt that keeps my elbow tight? I could velcro it on so it stays tight on my backswing but releases after impact. Could also do something that keeps the chin down and behind the ball. Maybe a chin laser or attachment to the collar. Or a glove that prevents my wrist from creating the wrong angle.

Need to get my wedges regrooved. Anyone had this done? Was going to send back to Cleveland

I've never done it. Can you actually get a regroved wedge to perform like a new one? By the time I've worn grooves out, I just buy a new wedge every 2-3 years.

I think you should invent, patent and market all 3 first...
I'll take 15% for suggesting you jump in the golf improvement arena, and we'll both retire early

Think about how completely nuts that is. It would be like Jerry Markbreit calling the NFL at halftime of the Superbowl and saying that he saw holding in the Endzone so they should award a team with two points.

The other problem is that guys like Tiger are under more scrutiny since they're on TV more. It's an uneven standard.

Well said. I agree.

I just wanna know what the damn number is!
