The Golf Thread

I had an appointment cancel today so I went back and talked to the guy who did my fitting. Turns out I'm hitting the ball very close to the heel of the club. We bumped them up 2 degrees and I hit then dead center. The shaft I have currently is the lowest launching and stiffest I can get in an iron. So basically the rest is my swing causing the higher launch angle. We decided I'm standing a little close to the ball so I backed up a little and my launch angle improved. I scheduled a lesson once we get back from Disney to dial it in a little more.
Good update. Who's gonna do your lesson?

Have any of you guys played the Callaway razr X's? Found a good deal on them with a new R11 driver, Callaway 3 & 5 woods & Ping i-series putter.

I sold my older set of G5's about 6 months ago and am finally getting back into it.

Haven't played the RazrX's. They made the Golf Digest 2012 Gold hot list. R11 is a great driver, watch out for clones

I would say you could borrow my old clubs, but by the time you get them all reshafted, you'd be better off just picking some up used. Also, I may have promised them to someone else.

The Internet may be your best bet, because used clubs the right length locally are gonna be difficult to find, I imagine.

I have the Razr X's. They are nice clubs, but I'm comparing them to my decade old Big Berthas, so...

I got a good deal on them last year from Dick's. It was a set of 4-9 with a PW and SW for $230. I never use my 3I, I'll always just take it easy with the 3H, so missing the 3I was no biggie to me.

Since you won’t be a regular daily or weekly player & haven’t played in a while let’s make it simple for you. Your height is gonna require that the irons will need to be 1” to 1 ½” longer than standard length. Lies will need to be adjusted about 2* up from standard. The iron lengths will be hard to find used.
Here’s my suggestion to make the game more fun for you:
3 & 4 Hybrid – these will replace the 3 & 4 irons
5 – P Game improvement irons – these type irons are more forgiving
Gap wedge – will be 50* - 52* depending on what degree the pitching wedge is
Sand wedge - will be 54* - 56* depending on what degree the gap wedge is
Putter
Driver – nothing lower than 9.5*
3 Wood – will be 13.5* or 15*

Could probably get by with the factory length of a driver. 3 wood & 3 & 4 hybrids would need to be longer.

If you have any question or need some advice, let me know

It's not like you couldn't play with a set straight off the rack. Most newer game improvement clubs are a little longer & more upright than standard anyway.

So I'm thinking about new irons.

right now I play Nike CCI 5-PW.

A buddy has the Cleveland CG16's and I like the way they look and feel, what are some comparable models?

I would like to hit my irons farther than I do currently (7 iron about 145). I used to be consistently over 150 with my 7 but I just can't get it there anymore.

No official handicap but I'd say its about a 12-13.

3 putted 6 times yesterday. Hit a 7 iron on a 180 par 3 to 4 feet and three putted.

Was going to kill somebody.

Certain days I feel zero confidence putting. Was hitting everything too hard.
