The Golf Thread

Yes . . . And they actually just entered into a reciprocal agreement with my club, so technically I guess I'm a member there.

I'll be playing there next Monday. I'll probably get a round or 2 in before then but right after the Masters I should be pretty motivated.

You should try Brazell's Creek over at the state park in Reidsville.
Go thru Reidsville on the way to Claxton. Guys I tee it with don't like Brazell, say its too tough & windy. So never been. Seen it on video, looks like a jungle front & desert back.

I guarantee you that what they don't like is that it isnt your typical flat, wide open south GA course. As for being windy . . . that makes me laugh a little.

The two nines are different because for a long time it was just a 9 hole course and they came in years later and added more holes (just like in McRae). It's two completely different designs.

You ever been to Dana Upshaw's shop in Warner Robbins? He's one of the best club fitters in the country

I know exactly where he is, but I've never been in there. I use a guy here in town whenever I need anything and he gives it to me for cost. Paid $35 for my last driver shaft.

I've posted a Masters best ball challenge in the Endzone if any of y'all are interested. No prize unless Freak wants to pony up something.

They say winds can be calm everywhere in the area but it'll be windy on the back.

Sounds like you have a hook up for club repair!!
I was speaking about Dana's club fitting where the sticks are matched to the player's swing thru launch monitors. His equipment is 2nd to none.
Fittings not for everybody, but they work. People travel from all over the US for a secession with him.
One of the best things about his fittings is, he's not trying to sell you anything. Hands you the print out with your numbers & your done.
He's wanting to retire & his shop is for sale.
Go by & take a look at what he does. He's in your back yard!!

Luckily, we've got a club here in town that has an insane learning center with launch monitors, cameras, simulators, indoor/outdoor driving range etc. I spent about an ungodly amount of time on a monitor getting fit and tweaking my last set of irons.

Sweet!! Sounds like you're set

Played the first round of the year today, shot an 84 but feels as if I played like crap. Another round Wed and Fri.

Yeah I just sold my whole set about 6 months ago and of course I miss playing on days like today.

A few years ago my cousin that owns a golf course down here hooked me up for a whole set of Ping G5 irons & woods, Cleveland hibore xls driver and a mizuno bettinardi a5 putter for a really good price.

Your cousin should have access to some of the major equipment companies. He should be able to set you up thru one of them for a "personal use" set. Personal use prices are set up for employees that work in the golf business & the prices are lower than what he would pay for them to resell. Great deal if you want new clubs

What course does he own?
