Tennessee Softball 2025

Obtaining some superior hitters out of the portal would be best money the UT athletic department could do in its pursuit of national championships in sports.

The Pickens factor sort of covers the defensive side of the game IMO but the offense is not close to championship caliber , and the offense can be fixed with some $$$$. Likewise a school with heavy hitter offense may come after Pickens with very serious money as she is just a phenomenal talent that is not often seen in college softball. The path to NCAA championship is half way there if any great hitting team had her. IMO

It seems to me that it doesn't matter which sport, when a Tn lady vol gets to her senior season they digress in ability to a large degree. happened to kiki (hitting) last year. Sara this year in bball, almost all of the soccer players... Same song different verses.

Danny White isn't firing Karen...🤣🤣🤣

Go ahead and whine and complain til Sunday, then whine and complain about the bracket.

Worst fan base in America. Peace out.
Just really a handful of haters who post negative stuff so often it feels like a lot of posters but it isn't. They feed off each others hate. I can tell you that its highly unlikely they are really fans because they show no loyalty or honor in what they write about the school they profess to be a fan of.

She’s the Rick Barnes of softball. Except she’s had more success. She’s not going anywhere unless it’s for personal reasons not related to softball.

Rick Barnes just took our school to it's second straight EE for the first time ever and only our 3rd EE ever and btw happens to be the furtherest we've gone, and both years we lost to the NCAA runner up. He also happens to be the most successful coach we've ever had.

So if you meant it as a compliment, then cool. If you meant it as an insult, try harder.

I meant it as both are excellent coaches who have come up well short. Take that how you want. One has coached a NCAA Championship game numerous times and the other has 3 E8, so take that how you want as well.

It is easy to sit in a rocking chair and take pot shots and Thursday evening quarterback. Every day in baseball and softball the mistakes made by this team are being made by other teams......sometimes those mistakes are overcome and sometimes they are not. That is softball and baseball wrapped up in a ball of competitiveness. Unfortunately ,some mistakes lead to losses ...fact is most of losses are due to mistakes they make.Managers and coaches do their best to minimize those .....and I am damn certain that out softball coaches do .
I do not believe I have ever seen another game where 7 unearned run have been given up in one game. In addition, I do not remember ever seen where all the losses suffered by a pitcher were a result of unearned runs. Players need to be taught the basics of the game and how to field the ball and when and how to force a base runner back to a base. Yesterday was not the first time errors have been made this year under the same circumstances. Perhaps the coaches can and should do a bit more.

Any guesses as to what teams will be paired with Tennessee for Regionals?
Hard to determine as we certainly have dropped some after the last three game series at home and the loss in the SEC Tourney. Still figuring were top 8 and that probably gets you someone like North Carolina or Virginia of the ACC. Right now I am seeing Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Texas A&M, and Florida St ranked ahead of us then it comes down to Tennessee, Florida, and UCLA don't know how they will rank for the other three top 8 spots. Of course another of the ACC teams could sneak in as well. We lost to Clemson at home so have to watch them.

Hoping we can stay top 8 going into the regional and have a big showing there and get the Super at home. Need to sweep the regional if were lucky enough to keep our top 8 which should keep us at home for the Super. No way we should be losing the regional at home even though we keep thinking this team is going to find themselves at the plate and they continure to fail.

None of our infield positions are ideal as far as fielding. I think were one of the weakest teams in the SEC fiedling those positions. I'm sure they practice and know their positions still fumbling has been totally a failure at all three positions of second, short, and third this season.

We got some serious conjuring to do.

Assemble the Coven!

I think the issue may be attention to detail during repetition (practice) in order to develop muscle memory. Debriefing following mental mistakes seems to be lacking, also.

The basics should be well ingrained by the time they reach a D1 roster.

They are a better fielding club than most but their errors come at critical times and look bad.

I’ve noticed in the last few days people are taking notice of what we are not doing for karlyn that have very low attachment to the program.

I will say that we seem to have some very strong freshmen hitters coming into the program next season. Of course they are freshmen, but I look for about three of them to play a lot. If we get in the portal for three or four more strong hitters we could really turn this thing around at the plate. Barnhart .537 in high school we would take .350 in college which is better than almost the entire team now. Holley .588 in high school. Looks like Morrison is the sure fire top choice to take the catching job. Combine these players with Pannell, the Leach twins, Clarke and Morgan could be an effective team at the plate. All depends on the portal of course three strong players from there would make us look really good for next season.
Pitching will be stronger and deeper next season just have to be able to put some runs up that is where the team is failing.

Just watched Clemson come back from 9-2 to win 10-9 in a game that shouldn’t have been continued. They played last 4 innings in a rain storm, lots of walks, errors, etc. Pitchers literally couldn’t grip the ball. Point is that may have cost Tech a seed and with their run scoring ability really don’t want them in Knoxville. Of course we gotta hit no matter who we get.

Bad situation when you go into every game even against average pitchers wondering if the offense can put up a couple of runs for Karlyn. She has lost so many games this season due to run support and fielding errors. Just hard to watch you get a player in a rundown and throw the ball over the third baseman's head or a simple ground tap where the batter is totally fooled turns into a hit. Way to much of that when she pitches.

Hope you are right. Morrison has changed position this year and she is now the shortstop which she will go where Mealer is and looks like Clark will be on first or in the catcher position. Would not surprise to see Faw transfer and Rodriquis head back home.
