I figured why not get this thread started a little early. Obviously the ending to the 2024 season was a complete meltdown to say the least. A lot to be proud of, but also a lot to think about for both players and coaches. I will say Milloy, White, Puni, Gottshall, G, and West contributed so much to this program during their time and I think every fan, no matter how harsh they are sometimes, will appreciate what they have given to LV softball.

With the portal becoming crazier and crazier by the day, it is clear that a top program like ours is not excluded from some transfers. I expect at least 3-5 people to enter the portal this summer...my guesses are DRod, Sarvis, Brockenbrough, Kirkpatrick, Ahlin, Orsini, and maybe Faw. I am bracing myself for a surprise transfer that will be a big hole to fill. I think our biggest key is grabbing a pitcher to back up Pickens and a catcher that can back up Nugent. If I am Karen I would really try and go after Stewart and Meylan from Washington, those 2 already have chemistry and were both starters on that team.

A lot of important people are going to be upperclassmen next year: Boo, Pickens, Nugent, and Mealer. This feeling does suck, but I think in hindsight it is good to light a fire and with big class coming in that will need to play a big role having new leadership amongst the team is always good.

Now to address the elephant in the room: the hitting. I am on board with parting ways with the Malveauxs as they have done their time and some people have mentioned he wants to be a head coach so Auburn looks pretty good for him. We need a hitting coach that is able to walk away from this launch angle & lifting the ball type of nonsense. It really has done us a disservice to have so many good hitters, but not perform when it comes down to the big moments.

As far as the incoming class, it looks like we have some good hitters. Emma Clarke, Ella Dodge, Amayah Doyle all look like promising hitters. I think Erin Nuwer is probably the better of the 2 pitchers, but if they bring along Payton Tanner slowly throughout the year she has some potential to eat up some innings every now and then. I think Zoie Shuler might play a pinch runner/defensive replacement role. (similar to what Gabby and Alannah did this past season)

Just to say it again, thank you to the seniors for all you’ve done. Each of them were great, and to Milloy in particular, thank you. Just as she was coming up to bat in her last plate appearance, they showed just how many program records she holds or is second place in. That is very impressive and we were spoiled the last five years - even if the last plate appearance ended less than favorably.

Why are D Rod and Faw both leaving? One will start at 2nd.

For starters, neither one can hit.
So there's no way they can improve. West couldn't hit her freshman year either, but git better. Sounds like you want both to leave. That's a big difference from one or either actually leaving. All that BS you typed, like you know anything about what goes on day to day. Don't say you think , you hope such and such is leaving. You don't know who is leaving.

Did I or anyone here ever say they knew what goes on day to day? Did I ever say I wanted someone to leave. No exactly I said “my guesses” clearly you should read thoroughly before you type.

Why would you assume that Faw or DRod would transfer . Then your comment to that question was, neither can hit. So you don't know if they will, but you want them to. I'd say the coaches have a good idea if Faw has potential to hit at this level; you don't know Shat.

I literally never said I knew who was leaving. But yeah I wouldn't mind some of the returning players seeing themselves out, nor will I miss one of the seniors leaving who started both her years here and did nothing.

Also big words from someone who doesn't know that West hit .326 her first year.

I stand corrected on West . Her hitting and power improves from year to year was my point. FYI, nobody cares who you want gone or not. Hell i would like to see you gone, but I don't get my way either.

16 straight innings at home with zero runs. 48 outs not including walks or HBP. A minimum of 24 LOB in 2 games. That is inexcusable. I would wager big money UT is the only home team in the history of softball that has lost a home Super regional in the way UT did this weekend. If not I'd like proof otherwise. And by Bama's worst team in a decade plus makes it that much worse. UT baseball winning the title after watching that shitshow for softball would do wonders. Especially watching Notre Dame take down UT baseball 2 years ago in the Supers 2 years ago in Knoxville. Why does UT choke over and over and over when heavy favorites. At home no less. Should I bet money for the opposite team when UT host a home playoff game at Neyland in football???? It's laughable at this point how UT teams choke when it really matters. Purdue anyone??? 4 games against Purdue that matter recently and 0 and 4. Boggles the mind. Still a VFL but needed to rant.

Try cheering for another team, maybe you're bad luck. Jkjk

I don't get emotional about winning and losing a game. It's just a game for entertainment for me. Some people take it to personal, like they are invested in it. I always want UT to win in every sport, but I'm smart enough to know that in the end only one team in crowned champions. We'll be back next year trying to get it done again. GBO!

How do you not get at least somewhat emotional watching UT sports(or any team youre invested in)? I get pissed and rant for a few hours after a tough loss(maybe more the next day). But normally after a good sleep and the sun comes up in general I know it's just a game and life goes on. But I don't get the fan that states they don't get emotional winning or losing a game. Why watch then? Honestly curious if you can sit and watch while not once clap, yell, sigh, or cuss watching a UT game. That to me is an emotion.

I do watch because I love UT sports. Years ago, I realized that brooding about a lose was not productive to a good attitude. I don't dwell after losing a game. I will post on here from time to time in response to someone else's post but carrying disappointment for days, weeks, years? That is of no benefit to me.

Same thing every year. No offense when it counts. Time for weekly to go. A bunch of regular season wins then poop the bed every year.

Why are you on here early in the morning then? A lot of other things to do on a holiday. Looks like you should have walked away after the loss and stayed away until next season when you can enlighten us with your wisdom again.
