Tennessee Softball 2025

Regular season Karen does it again great regular season struggle in the postseason. Hopefully can straighten it out but have seen this movie before and the cry is always wait till the new players get here. Hope I am wrong but u have to have some hitting to back a generational pitcher hope we don't waste her. If I wrong I will eat crow.

What we saw is the real Arkansas pitching staff when they go up against a team that can hit. Their staff has been nothing special all season reason they lost ten SEC games. Arkansas is a strong hitting team but their pitching is average and again that was proven yesterday as a five run lead was vanquished by Oklahoma.

Overall Ark is a strong team, they couldn’t get out of their own way in closing out. OU knew how to play in a big game for 7 innings where Ark couldn’t handle the pressure of the moment with a lead. OU at 7 losses in the SEC showed how balanced the middle to the top the SEC.

Not very well.
Okay, does anyone remember the time this season we were ranked in the top 4? How does one sustain a ranking like that by not having great player skills and coaching? It's mind boggling that we lose fans jumping overboard because we didn't win every game or look dominating at all times.. I can understand the frustration but it shouldn't affect the reality of the situation.

What we saw was our defense give another game away.

Their pitching staff has a team era well over 3 and yet the most we could muster in playing them four times was 7 runs in 28 innings. Oklahoma scored 35 runs on them in four games. Just the difference in a team that can hit and one that can't.

I don’t disagree. I think you are discrediting the mindset of winning programs (OU) versus teams (Ark) that haven’t been there. We know we have issues hitting, that’s not new to this years team and probably won’t correct itself. It was said before the first pitch of the year, we go as Pickens goes.

Not discrediting them just stating that Arkansas pitching is not that great average at best just a statement about the state of our hitting this season.

It seems to me that it doesn't matter which sport, when a Tn lady vol gets to her senior season they digress in ability to a large degree. happened to kiki (hitting) last year. Sara this year in bball, almost all of the soccer players... Same song different verses.
Interesting observation.

Reality of the situation is that a pitcher as great as KP shouldn’t be losing games by unearned runs. Reality is watching our players make poor decisions due to lack of situational awareness. Reality is listening, as one poster put it, to players addressing their non existent batting strategy. Reality dictates that the coaching part could definitely be better.

What is mind boggling is some posters who are unwilling to recognize problems which prevent teams from reaching their potential. Especially when those problems are so obvious.

Because they love the coach more than winning championships. Winning a few more than they lose is alright to some.

I know this idea could go way wrong real quick, but if I'm a player going into the post-season feeling a bit undercoached and without much real-time demonstration/explanation/repetition that actually HELPS me become a better hitter going on, I'm pretty sure I'd be taking it upon myself to utilize some of the amazing hitting tutorial videos out there and try some new things on my own. Sometimes it helps to break out of same routines and see what happens. Honestly? It couldn't get THAT much worse, and maybe it might actually help.

Yeah, I know. I'm desperately casting nets here, hoping to catch some magic. I want so dang bad for this team to bow up and finish this season strong. 🥹

It's based on the entire season , not just the part we didn't play well. All of the negs will bring up the last series and SECT game. Regardless, we should be a top 8 seed.
We didn’t start great either, early losses to UCLA, Nebraska, Oregon and recently Clemson. Take 3 of 4 and it’s a different conversation. Beat OU and Texas with a nice mid-season bump. We probably fall anywhere between 7-10. Just like sports and seedings, it’s good to have banked equity from previous years to help.
