this could mean anything. i've flown back and forth from GA to Cali in a back to back day period before. It's not fun. If I had the opportunity, I would've stayed another day before having to get back on the plane.

I’m out here in Phoenix and casually watched ASU from time to time. I didn’t see a whole lot of upside vs Joey, but I could be missing something. I don’t think he’s super mobile either.

Well you say that be we also have half this forum stating if Heupel does not win this season he should be gone. If he indeed needs to be competitive this next season then we need someone. Gmac does not appear to be trusted to be the guy and expecting a true freshmen to be successful at QB in the SEC is a huge gamble.

To be fair, no one really was excited about Joey until Heupel had him for a year. Is possible leavitt is much better in Heupel system.

That said I hate this so much. The risk on this one is up there imo for the money it will take. The baggage here is frightening.

The issue is: what if G-Mac isn't ready? He didn't clearly jump over Merk this year, who I think we all agree wasn't going to be ready. G-Mac stayed at QB3 and no, Heupel wouldn't just not give Merk the few QB2 snaps to be loyal unless Heupel sucks as a coach.

Signs I see: reports that Heupel is seeking a starter QB AND G-Mac not being better than Merk last year..... seem to say he's not ready.

What signs do you see that he is ready?

Don’t you think Heupel & Co. would throughly explore his injury status and forecast before shelling out big bucks to bring him in? I don’t see any point in worrying about that as mere fans when there are doctors and those on Heupel’s staff who are actually qualified to make that judgement, unlike us.

What signs have you seen? The guys barely played more than 3 in game minute. I can tell you whose fault that is.

Exactly. So saying "he's ready" is probably not true. He didn't clearly jump Merk during the season AND Heupel is definitely not looking at a QB2 in the portal.

Those are the signs I've seen.

What's changed though? When you play QB you are not competing with a portal QB, you are competing against a defense. The human being hasn't changed. The recruiting services aren't worse at evaluation. There are still 24 hours in a day. I don't see how the portal changes whether you can get a sophomore ready to play college football. Lots of second year QBs have dominated. College football isn't that much harder now.

Medium and long term prognosis of that type injury isn't as easy to determine as most other musculoskeletal injuries. Wish the kid luck and hope we make the right decision.
