They will stay for 10 years if u pay them. How many times do we have to say high school recruiting is not as important anymoreEvery time I make that argument about that same thing, I get roasted on here.
GMac should play and should be ready. Maybe his weight will be an issue, maybe not. Eventually these players are going to stop committing (out of HS) when they realize they won’t be able to play until their third year.
Yeah, just did that from TYS to Boston in 26 hours, same flight attendants on four flights lolthis could mean anything. i've flown back and forth from GA to Cali in a back to back day period before. It's not fun. If I had the opportunity, I would've stayed another day before having to get back on the plane.
This is my concern as well. Those can linger.OK, back when I was a cripple and had a busted right foot I would’ve been happy to take as many millions as Tennessee is willing to give me. This seems like a great idea since there’s no way this injury will be lingering and he will totally fully 100% heal.
Go get him! 10 million may not be enough. I don’t care if you spend it all. While we’re at it, maybe we can go dig up Lyle Alzado since he was such a good Baller and probably has college time left.
You know, since we don’t care what condition they’re in.
This isn’t aimed at anyone I’m just venting. Go get a healthy kid. 100% health.
I’m out here in Phoenix and casually watched ASU from time to time. I didn’t see a whole lot of upside vs Joey, but I could be missing something. I don’t think he’s super mobile either.Arizona st fans aren’t real upset he left. Don’t want more baggage. Wouldn’t surprise me if this staff took a flyer on a bad apple on defense.
Well you say that be we also have half this forum stating if Heupel does not win this season he should be gone. If he indeed needs to be competitive this next season then we need someone. Gmac does not appear to be trusted to be the guy and expecting a true freshmen to be successful at QB in the SEC is a huge gamble.Look, Mendoza was a 2 star. We don’t need to spend millions on a qb. We need to get one on the team that can play. Why in the hell do we have Mac and Brandon sitting on the bench taking 5-7 mil in nil? Take your lumps, spend on defense and play what you got
To be fair, no one really was excited about Joey until Heupel had him for a year. Is possible leavitt is much better in Heupel system.I’m out here in Phoenix and casually watched ASU from time to time. I didn’t see a whole lot of upside vs Joey, but I could be missing something. Thought-provoking, @DaddyChad . If this happens, let the portal-lovers choose who leaves Tennessee: GMAC. Faizon or both? I hate this garbage. To be fair, no one really was excited about Joey until Heupel had him for a year. Is possible leavitt is much better in Heupel system.
That said I hate this so much. The risk on this one is up there imo for the money it will take. The baggage here is frightening.porta
The issue is: what if G-Mac isn't ready? He didn't clearly jump over Merk this year, who I think we all agree wasn't going to be ready. G-Mac stayed at QB3 and no, Heupel wouldn't just not give Merk the few QB2 snaps to be loyal unless Heupel sucks as a coach.Every time I make that argument about that same thing, I get roasted on here.

What signs have you seen? The guys barely played more than 3 in game minute. I can tell you whose fault that is.The issue is: what if G-Mac isn't ready? Signs I see: reports that Heupel is seeking a starter QB AND G-Mac not being better than Merk last year..... seem to say he's not ready.

Exactly. So saying "he's ready" is probably not true. He didn't clearly jump Merk during the season AND Heupel is definitely not looking at a QB2 in the portal. What signs have you seen? The guys barely played more than 3 in game minute. I can tell you whose fault that is.
What's changed though? When you play QB you are not competing with a portal QB, you are competing against a defense. The human being hasn't changed. The recruiting services aren't worse at evaluation. There are still 24 hours in a day. I don't see how the portal changes whether you can get a sophomore ready to play college football. Lots of second year QBs have dominated. College football isn't that much harder now.The portal and NIL has changed that. It's so rare to see good young QBs starting now. It was a very 90s / 00s trend because that's often what you had to do to get the best QBs. Now there's so many good readily available older QBs in the portal, it's difficult to be competitive with a 1st or 2nd year QB. Though, not impossible --- but look around --- almost all the best teams are now lead by upperclass QBs.
Medium and long term prognosis of that type injury isn't as easy to determine as most other musculoskeletal injuries. Wish the kid luck and hope we make the right decision.Don’t you think Heupel & Co. would throughly explore his injury status and forecast before shelling out big bucks to bring him in? I don’t see any point in worrying about that as mere fans when there are doctors and those on Heupel’s staff who are actually qualified to make that judgement, unlike us.
