Sam Leavitt extends visit

GMac wouldn’t be a true fresh and was highly recruited.
Faz would be abs G-Mac is the backup, which everyone always thinks is the best qb. If Heup believed he was good enough, do you think he would go after a high level transfer qb? It'll work itself out in the end, but he knows what he has.

Question....Why would we want a QB that's out until at least August which will be the start of Fall camp? At least JA had 5 months before the season. Can't wrap my mind around it.
I don’t think he’s going to be out as long as that

Interesting to hear that he has extended his visit by one day.

What are your thoughts on IF he signs?
G-Mac hits the portal, IMO.

Leavitt will be expensive and has 2 years left. If he gives us an "injury rehab" off year, he'll be too expensive to just want that year, he's a 2yr investment. Brandon will be ready by 28.

Leavitt squeezes G-Mac out of the QB room.

Looks good on paper. His injury is really concerning imo and he won’t be cheap. You’re up against Oregon to sign him; did I mention he won’t be cheap
Oregon is looking in another direction. Miami could potentially come after him, but right now he is getting thin on options. I understand that he has some family that are a headache that some teams didn't want to deal with. I don't know enough to know how bad it is, but ASU doesn't seem upset he is leaving and we don't need another problem player.

After Nico and the Boo Carter, you'd think any red flags in that area...ANY...would close the door for Heupel. Definition of insanity comes to mind.

I agree...i just don't know how bad it really is. He is certainly talented and is able to make quick decisions and is incredibly mobile....none of that matters if he turns out to be a headache in the locker room. Heupel will lose more favor with boosters if he makes another bad character decision on a money position.

OK, back when I was a cripple and had a busted right foot I would’ve been happy to take as many millions as Tennessee is willing to give me. This seems like a great idea since there’s no way this injury will be lingering and he will totally fully 100% heal.

Go get him! 10 million may not be enough. I don’t care if you spend it all. While we’re at it, maybe we can go dig up Lyle Alzado since he was such a good Baller and probably has college time left.
You know, since we don’t care what condition they’re in.

This isn’t aimed at anyone I’m just venting. Go get a healthy kid. 100% health.

I just think that Aguilar is going to win his case. I think it's worth a gamble. Spend the money on the best defenders you can get your hands on.

Haven't you heard, 3rd times a charm or was it 3 strikes and you're out? Leavitt seems like to big of a risk for such a critical decision. JA has shown you can get a lower price talented mid player and offense will be successful. Spend the money on defense.

I've just come to expect the unexpected now. An even bigger puzzle is why you'd grab a guy that has more.tham one year of eligibility left. You know Mac will leave, and then if he jumps after a single season, you'd better be cock sure about Brandon and you ability to get a serviceable backup in the portal. Leavitt also brings a lot of uncertainty about the room into the discussion. Never dreamed Heupel was such a riverboat gambler. Hope he's got a plan B and C at the ready.

Maybe the portal recruiting isn't going as well as had been hoped for? If so, perhaps Heupel feels the need to shoot for the moon on offense instead?

Every time I make that argument about that same thing, I get roasted on here.

GMac should play and should be ready. Maybe his weight will be an issue, maybe not. Eventually these players are going to stop committing (out of HS) when they realize they won’t be able to play until their third year.
As a program I don't think Tennessee is in position to play an unproven QB. We have to win now. If we go 8-5 next year everyone will want Heup fired. If GMac or Faizon was ready we wouldn't be looking for a starting QB. And honestly, I don't believe the recruiting services are right all the time. Some people look at your ranking and how high your rated. Which is not always correct.

lol. Nobody with functioning brain cells would want Heupel fired for going 8-5 next year given the circumstances.

The. Why are we paying them to sit on the bench? It’s dumb. Play what you got get a serviceable 3rd qb for safety and go spend on defense. Like I said it’s like 5-7 million just sitting there. News flash. We aren’t winning now

Shoot, I'd campaign for him as SEC COY and give him a raise if he pulls in 8 wins next year. Far more likely we're a 5-7 or 6-6 team next year.

Staying for medical evaluation and procedures and deal is said to be 3 million plus. The type of injury he has is said to be some nine months so some gamble and risks to this for sure.

8-5 would suck and while I don't think it would mean he did an abysmal coaching job, it would be a clear sign he is not going to win a championship here. What are the special circumstances?
