Surprisingly, is agree.
The original point was not being concerned about recruiting, which I believe you agree with.
No point in taking some that aren't who we really need just to boost the rankings.

How that turned into "he never did that, Butch was great at recruiting" is beyond me.

CBJ had a terrible haircut and that hurt his recruiting. Never trust a man named Butch that is literally sporting a "Butch" haircut. It would be like if I wore a literal plant pot on my head.a3467f82a2024793b5552afdb0c5d4ff.jpg

I'll just say this on the CBJ recruits' nature vs nurture debate:

More than a few times a player would come in, be able to make an immediate impact or "flash", then actually get worse over time. It is anecdotal, but the closest thing I have to empirical evidence that he took good players and ruined them via injuries, s&c, bad habits, and lack of development.

They, and I, said that Jones "filled his classes with paper 4 stars", therefore raising the class rankings higher but those filler players were never SEC caliber.
Pruitt could do that but only makes the fans feel better and it's pointless.

Now, you can prove any of that wrong without you or Hank changing it AGAIN?

So I guess I'll do this one more time...who were these filler 4 star players? I went through every class Butch had while here and the only 4 star who didn't have another SEC offer was Vonn Pearson, per 247 composite rating & offer list on -their- website.

We were a small team by SEC standards. We became lazy to the point they didn't seem to care at all in 2017 INCLUDING Butch.

When he fired the first guy, the intern S&C coach made 70k a year. Butch let a guy that made less than half this board a year run the most important part of his program. Butch is a minor league coach and that's what we got in return.

Just imagining what the roster would look like if we'd hired Gruden gives me chills. We'd be looking at 10-2, maybe better. Maybe next time. Won't be long.

Though a lot of the three stars Butch recruited legitimately had poor offer lists. I'd definitely say Pruitt and his staff lands much better and more sought after three stars prospects.

I'm already done. As I already discussed "offer lists" vs recruited hard. Don't care for circle debates.

Jake pointed out how much it was discussed back then, maybe only some of us remember..like a sci fi movie.
Either way, I'm done about Butch Jones, everyone else is free to fondly reminisce if they so choose.

The veterans of the recruiting wars understand the changing times and that it is a marathon, not a sprint. I actually love this slow building class and putting eggs in the big boy baskets. Its refreshing and will make it all the more fun come December.

Even when I completely disagree with them. Hell, catbone is one of my favorite posters. But the "I was the only one telling y'all we should be worried and everyone attacked me" thing is what I was giving you ish about because it's an overused complaint by posters who tend to always respond to any positive posts with negative or sarcastic replies. Then act surprised when people try to convince them it's not as bad as they think. Not saying yer always negative, just that post could have been copy and pasted from any number of normally negative posters.
