Yep, Tennessee's politicians are great at taking something that looks ok on paper and turning it into something that benefits them while screwing everyone else and the Haslams are one of the smartest families politically-speaking we've had when it comes to getting what they want while still managing to look good on the surface. I remember a few years ago when we were ranked the most corrupt state and folks in Louisiana couldn't believe it. I wish we had better from both sides but our parties are pretty rotten. The regular Janes and Joes of the state deserve better.

And people thought the Butcher brothers were bad..

Davenport held off on signing the MOU. If she had signed it and pushed it through, Schiano would have been our coach. They would have whitewashed him with PR as best they could, but if the MOU had been fully executed, counsel would have advised UT to ride out the backlash.

That would have destroyed the UT football program for good. At least now we have hope that it can get better over time.

Both would have been a ton of fun, sold tix, and put up huge offensive numbers......

I think they are just 7-9 win coaches with an occasional run, but will never be Championship winners. Champions do it on both sides of the ball, they don't. They are or have been at schools with great resources in leagues not nearly as deep as the SEC....and haven't really won anything big.
Umm..wrong..Leach is at a school with no resources. I mean the WSU AD can barely pay his salary, and it is not that big of a salary.

Leach’s best gig was at Texas Tech, and he worked that program up to unprecedented heights. Aside from Ryan Leaf, WSU hasn’t seen this type of success either. He’s a weirdo that needs a long leash, but he’s one of my favorite coaches.

He is a trip, that is for sure. He would never be my top choice for HC, but he was galactically better than the coaching garbage like Schiano, Doeren and Steele we were on the verge of having shoved down our throats.

I just wanted him here because of the pirate thing. Can you imagine the Vol Navy?

Same here. I wanted him here to mess with the same people whose stupidity has been on full display. I wanted to see the pirate promos with the Vol Navy. Arrr! But that was when Currie was still AD. After Aunt Bev made her move with Fulmer I no longer wanted him.

Leach's O scheme can be a lot of fun. But when D's match up well against it there is no Plan B. I am very happy with our coach. I like teams that brutalize their opponents - just rip the heart out.

Why can you never acknowledge that Mike Leach is not a bad football coach? He has now worked miracles at two of the dregs of college football. I will agree that Gundy would be the better hire...but "hands down"?...I'm not buying that.

I think Leach is a good coach just simply think he'd be a terrible fit here. Don't see that personally jiving too well with the fish bowl that is Tennessee football. Don't think he'd recruit close to well enough to hang with the big dogs.
