You might not want to throw a young guy out there against teams like Bama or Ga but if JG gets out there and stinks it up against BYU or Chatt. I say put one of the other guys in and see what he has during game time. Maybe getting benched will make him work harder to keep his starting position, if he pouts on the side line and doesn't try and help the young guys then he's not a team leader and don't need him. Look at Hurts getting benched. He had all the reasons in the world to suck and pout but nope he cheered on Tua and game planned with him.I don't think Pruitt gives a damn about "distrust in our backups with the fan base". We've got 2 young qbs backing up JG. Neither apparently is ready to take the job. One of the worst mistakes you can make with a young quarterback is to throw him into the fire before he's ready and ruin his confidence. This idea that Pruitt is somehow playing some sort of game to pacify the fans about his choice for the starting qb is...no offense...silly. When either of the backups is deemed ready to play and wins the job from JG, I have no doubt they'll make the change. One thing I'm certain of...no coach is going to keep a more talented/prepared player on the bench. They'll play the kids that give them the best chance to win regardless of what the fans may think.
Personally I think JG got the job because Pruitt didn't want to risk starting the season without a QB that has serious playing time at the D1 level with the Vols
