Pruitt about to land an epic recruiting class...

OK Ray, how many more wins do we have this year, I'm waiting?
I think it’s dumb to put all your chips in the W-L stat. So if the refs call a fumble, a fumble, and we beat USCe, you’d say we’re a better football team??? I can play the same game. How many ranked teams did last year’s team beat??? How about, how many ranked teams did they beat on the road??? I’m waiting?

Winning isn't everything...

Looking at Rivals and the verbal commits we have I am confident we are headed in the right direction. I think there was a Butch Jones class that had like one OL over 3 starts on it, but our ranking was improved by getting 4/5* athletes. Pru's class looks solid on the line front. I am excited for the future.
It can be a solid class, but he has to get this notion out of his mind that he can replicate what Saban is doing. He needs to get UT back to winning football on a solid foundation.

why on earth would he do that?

let me ask it this way...would you take 75% of what Saban has done at Bama?

i doubt anyone duplicates what he's done any time soon.

but if you're not at least trying to get to that point........................you aint' gettin' close. and close is probably pretty damn good.

Has a bunch of guys that want to play together for Pruitt and his staff

These guys apparently like each other and love some Rocky Top !

Something about chics and hatching and not counting until...........
If we lose the last 3 games some of those commitments may decide to play else where.

Coaching/recruiting staff is doing a great job working to restock the OL in abundance in recruiting and picking up some very sound DL prospects as well. Given Tuttle, Johnson, Phillips, Bain and Kongbo will be gone from the DL in '19, it is my belief that Eric Crosby and Kingston Harris will move back to DL in '19 with Greg Emerson after possibly redshirting all this year.

There were not enough quality OL available to start camp and teaching DL backups the OL responsibilities was important. With the presumed influx of OL talent coming onboard in '19, these backups will have gained a year in strength/conditioning program and ready for their DL responsibilities again. Who else sees this as a possible depth building process for both OL and DL?

Me. the difference being we could be bringing in 3 difference makers on the OL.

we don't have anyone in the fold just yet, either on the roster or coming in next year's class, on the DL that i would call a difference maker.

that said, in the 34, you don't necessarily need "difference" makers, if you're good to great at LB. and also like you said, there's some guys that will be back on the DL that will be in their 2nd year of this program, and there's no telling who might step up...Mincey, Harris, Emerson or all of the above plus anyone else that could be brought in.

we should have good #'s on the DL again....hard to judge the quality at this point. on paper, we lose a lot, and will have ?'s on the DL.

But isn't that how opponents view Bama? Bama wins. Bama gets NCs. Bama gets great recruits. I'd like to see Tennessee get back to doing those same things. With that type of winning Tennessee will once again strike fear into the opponents and your wish will be fulfilled.

I'd like to see our guys be exactly like Bama is right now......minus the hideous uniforms, stupid mascots, stupid name, stupid fans, being from a crappy state/town, and cheating.

I honestly have no clue but I would be veryyyy disappointed if the majority of our team 2 weeks ago feared bama as they slapped the "give my all for Tennessee" before walking out onto the promise land. Just watched Coach O press conference and if his young men take his lead, Saturdays game @ Death Valley will be another epic game because the tigers want have fear.

Coaching football is coaching football, different levels means bigger faster players with more experience so you can install more complicated schemes. But in the end it all comes down to fundamentals and if you can't coach fundamentals you are not a good football coach. It's easy to win when you have the biggest, fastest and best players.

CJP may very well turn out to be the greatest thing since sliced bread and I'm pulling for him but so far he simply has not impressed me much.

I’m on page 3 reading this but you sound like a jerk. Really. You do. “Oh, hogg88 isn’t impressed. What will we do?”
You actually said he could do better at teaching tackling?? Tackling?? Really? At a D1, SEC school, our HEAD COACH is supposed to teach a player how to tackle?? Are you serious? Now, is that before or after “how to run” and “Breathing in and out” class? Good lord. Taking good angles, wrapping up and hitting up and out are all basics that have been taught to these guys since they played on your middle school team and I assure you their lack of execution isn’t because JP hasn’t taught them how as it is them being able and committed to execute what they know.

And Georgia beat us 41-0 last year AT HOME. It was a 12 pt game in the 4th qtr this year at Georgia. The 2017 team would have gotten boat raced at Auburn this year. We're not close to where any of us want us to be but we're better than we were last year.
To be fair last years Georgia team was much better than this years.

Pruitt is bringing in guys who are passionate about winning. Also very talented.

No more of this loser Big East mentality that’s been lurking around our team for so long.

Hmmm... you know what.. that could explain Butch.. not the loser part.. but trying to play like the Big East.. in a conference that's NFL lite.. just wasn't the right fit.. now.. he could do good at Richmond or a school like that.. but not SEC..
