ALL beer is exceptional after 3.

well, if you cross over into ohio you will have no issues getting what ever beer you want. It's pretty much anything goes. That's why fatheads moved to cleveland. I have been known to drink beer for breakfast, and admittedly being locked inside during winter and a pandemic has made my beer consumption a wee but of an issue. :)

The one in Pennsylvania.... Our group has been debating whether to go to Pitt or LSU next year, and while LSU would no doubt be a LOT of fun, we have no idea when we would get to play Pitt up there again. So... Any of ya'll have any recommendations on what to do up there? What to see and where to go? The game is early enough in the season that I am sure the weather will be pretty nice, so outdoor stuff should be good to go.

Most of all we are hoping for some sweet sweet revenge.
IIRC the Cardinals/Pirates are playing a series there the weekend of the game. Our group has considered going (all are huge Vols/Cardinals fans) and making a series event out of it.

Our plan is to go to the Pirates game Friday, the football game Saturday and depending on the NFL schedule when it comes out the Steelers game Sunday.

As a fellow Cards fan, I might just see you there.

I’ve been to Baton Rogue for a game. It’s the worst group of human beings I’ve ever encountered. They lack basic human decency. This isn’t sour grapes, because UT actually won the game. But other than that it was an awful experience. No desire to ever go back.

Type Steeler Talk from google. There is a Steelers’ fan website. The first thread is regarding “wha to do in Pittsburgh.” I’ve been there once yrs ago and we had a blast vs Ravens Christmas night 2016. A lot to do there!

Went to the Pitt-UCF game in 2019, and it was pretty cool going to Heinz Field. PNC Park is right there, too. There are several hotels within a 10 minute walk, too. We stayed at the Springhill Suites downtown which was an easy walk to the stadium and downtown Pittsburgh. Good restaurants, big city feel, cool architecture. We Ubered from the airport and never needed a car while there. Great trip!

Plenty to do in Pittsburgh. If you like beer and food, you have many options. Get ready to drive up some steep hills. Downtown is in the river valley and all suburbs are in the hills. Really cool town.[/QUOTE
The Hill Street District was inspiration for the TV series Hill Street Blues.

I will yell you this— it’s a great city. It’s not the same old dirty town it once was, but it still has that swag to it. Modern, clean, great restaurants, hotels, etc. I’d go again in a heartbeat

New Orleans food is overrated. Sorry, but deep fried everything just doesn't do it for me.

Primanti Brothers Sandwich Shop is a Pittsburgh highlight.

@SpaceCoastVol , I’ll echo this. Hit Primanti Bros for lunch one day. It’s in the square downtown. Fries go ON the sandwich. It’s an icon there. Used to always go there for lunch on our layovers when I was on the mad dog.

Like others have said, if you're into architecture Falling Water and there is also a state park, Polymath, that has bought several FLW houses from around the US and had them moved there, You can even stay overnight in them.

The Laurel Highlands also have Ohiopyle state park with rafting and you can even ride a bike there from downtown Pittsburgh on a rails to trails path called the Great Allegheny Passage.

For history, there's Fort Pitt in downtown and Fort Necessity in the region and Heinz History center.

More highbrow stuff includes the Andy Warhol Museum, Carnegie Museum, Phipps Conservatory, Heinz Hall, and the National Aviary.

Kennywood is a very unique amusement park, over 120 years old and it has a number of rides that are the last of their kind in the world. In addition to a still running 100+ year old roller coaster, there are lots of modern rides including an entire area themed for the Steelers with a pretty good coaster.

There are the two inclines up Mount Washington. Also take a drive up Mount Washington to Grandview Ave for great views of the city especially at night.

The Strip District is the area in the city where restaurants used to got to get meat, fish, vegatables, etc. Still that and also has lots of great food places (get a fish sandwich from Wholeys) and that is where the original Primantis Brothers is (sandwiches with fries on them, overated in my opinion). Lots of great little italian bakeries throughout the city and Polish Hill for perogie.

The Pirates will suck but if there is a MLB season, PNC Park is beautiful and good tickets will be cheap.

For gambling there's Rivers Casino next to Heinz Field, in the area is Nemacolin Resort with a golf course and The Meadows Racetrack for horse racing.

I grew up in southwestern PA.
This.. you don't have to leave Pittsburgh.. Plenty to do and see. Carnegie Museum has about as many dinosaur bones as the Smithsonian. Get out your wallet and take the Duquesne incline up Mt. Washington and find a restaurant with a view of downtown. I did this back when I traveled a lot in the '80s. Someone told me that place burned.. Can't believe they didn't build it back.

On the Pitt Campus, the " Cathedral of Learning" is Pitt's equivalent of Ayers Hall. A nice old majestic college building. Worth a look.
