The one in Pennsylvania.... Our group has been debating whether to go to Pitt or LSU next year, and while LSU would no doubt be a LOT of fun, we have no idea when we would get to play Pitt up there again. So... Any of ya'll have any recommendations on what to do up there? What to see and where to go? The game is early enough in the season that I am sure the weather will be pretty nice, so outdoor stuff should be good to go.

Most of all we are hoping for some sweet sweet revenge.
With the new conference alignment we don’t know how long it will be until we see LSU again either

go to Pitt and get a double treat - watch the Vols and then the Steelers if they play the next day at home

Fatheads Brewery. Great food and beer and not far from the incline ride up Mt. Washington (best views of any city anywhere).

Also def need to go to Hofbrauhaus. I used to have a blast there when I lived in Pittsburgh for a few months. Only place that lets you drunkenly dance on tables to Polka. And at that time of year, the outside area along the river will be nice to sit outside at.

Edit: It is family friendly if the "dance on tables" part turns you off. There are different sections lol

Like others have said, if you're into architecture Falling Water and there is also a state park, Polymath, that has bought several FLW houses from around the US and had them moved there, You can even stay overnight in them.

The Laurel Highlands also have Ohiopyle state park with rafting and you can even ride a bike there from downtown Pittsburgh on a rails to trails path called the Great Allegheny Passage.

For history, there's Fort Pitt in downtown and Fort Necessity in the region and Heinz History center.

More highbrow stuff includes the Andy Warhol Museum, Carnegie Museum, Phipps Conservatory, Heinz Hall, and the National Aviary.

Kennywood is a very unique amusement park, over 120 years old and it has a number of rides that are the last of their kind in the world. In addition to a still running 100+ year old roller coaster, there are lots of modern rides including an entire area themed for the Steelers with a pretty good coaster.

There are the two inclines up Mount Washington. Also take a drive up Mount Washington to Grandview Ave for great views of the city especially at night.

The Strip District is the area in the city where restaurants used to got to get meat, fish, vegatables, etc. Still that and also has lots of great food places (get a fish sandwich from Wholeys) and that is where the original Primantis Brothers is (sandwiches with fries on them, overated in my opinion). Lots of great little italian bakeries throughout the city and Polish Hill for perogie.

The Pirates will suck but if there is a MLB season, PNC Park is beautiful and good tickets will be cheap.

For gambling there's Rivers Casino next to Heinz Field, in the area is Nemacolin Resort with a golf course and The Meadows Racetrack for horse racing.

I grew up in southwestern PA.

This post contains about everything you need to know. Love the strip district. Go to Pamela's Diner if you can get in. Try Gaucho Parilla Argentina for dinner, again, if you can get in. Stadium is across the river from downtown so plenty of hotel options. Nemacolin would be a sweet stop. Just know its expensive and you can no longer visit for the day. It requires you to stay there to visit.

I love Pittsburgh and live a little over an hour away. Too bad I'm moving this summer. I would've loved to paint Pittsburgh orange with you guys.

Yes come to Pitt, I'll be wearing the orange, paying a bunch of my non football loving friends to also wear the orange as well. The more the better. Pitt won't have a lot of fans at the game, they rarely do

I live in Detroit, so you already know which way I’m leaning. But honestly, it’s been so long since we’ve played in Death Valley and the atmosphere will be so electric, I might grab a plane ride down for that one, too.

Go to the Pitt game. Visit Ohiopyle to see the gorgeous river valley and the spectacular falls. If you like whitewater rafting, the river has awesome scenery. You'll want to wear a wetsuit, though.

Some great breweries in Pittsburgh.
Kennywood amusement park.
Warhol museum.
Carnegie museum.
Heinz factory tour.

For some extra $$$ stay at Nemacolin, about and hour and a half from the stadium in Farmington.

You can get seriously pampered there.

Went to a Pirates game about 3 years ago at PNC and decided then to go to the Pitt game this year. BR is a typical SEC shithole with ignorant ass redneck fans . NO used to be great but since Katrina in 05 it's a shithole too. Pittsbuth a real sports town.

Cant wait to go to Provo for the BYU game in 23. Only places worth going in the SEC are Athens, Nashville and Lexington. Columbia East not bad as long as it's a night game.

Pittsburgh without a doubt. It's a great city with some really cool places to go. Gotta go to the German Haufbrau House for some beer and Industry Tavern for some good food and drinks. Also check out the Grand View (I think that's what its called) it looks down over the entire city. If your into Museums, the history museum there is pretty cool too.

Not a season ticket holder, not an insider, only watched TN in Neland. Please give advice to find tickets. I want this to be my daughter's first game so when I take her to Knoxville she will understand what football is all about.

If you happen to CCW be sure you understand the firearm laws of the states you go through. Things may have changed but I had a friend years ago had to spend some serious time and money in either Virginia or Maryland. Seems like their constabulary in a few places routinely pulled over southern cars as most of them had firearms that violated their concealed carry laws at the time. I don't travel that way often as in scores of years since going up that way.

Was scouting Pitt just now

Yeah Pickett is gone but.....

They return

All their top receivers one of which was the Biketkinoff winner and a transfer from Akron who was a freshman all American.

A TE they think is gonna be good.

Both their top RB's.

Their entire offensive line.

Transfer QB Slovis who started at USC.

All their top pass rushers and pretty much everyone else from their defense...

Absolutely cannot afford to shoot ourselves in the foot again. No way this will be easy.

If you are making the trip to Pittsburgh here are some of my suggestions. If you’re a craft beer drinker there are some great choices and I am happy to help with your itinerary.

All near Heinz Field:
UPMC Science Center
Andy Warhol museum
Bike and beers on 3 Rivers Heritage Trail - 5 mile ride to Hofbrauhaus, 4 mile ride from Heinz to Millvale neighborhood (Grist House or Strange Roots), 1.25 mile to Roundabout popup
Kayak Pittsburgh - river kayak rental under Clemente Bridge
PNC Park (Pirates are home that w/e. Yes they are a joke, but ball park is one of the best in MLB.)
Rivers Casino (Saw folks mentioning casinos in WV, but this is next to Heinz.)

Downtown / Strip District / Mt. Washington:
Downtown is walkable to Heinz, plenty of restaurants and spots for a drink. Butcher and Rye would be my choice for dinner, but get a reservation.
Mt. Washington take the incline from Station Square and check out the view.
Strip District - Coffee at LaPrima and stroll or get breakfast.Pamela’s is where people line up but there are other great options - DeLuca’s, Kelly O’s, Peace Love and Donuts.

Oakland / East End:
Pitt campus
Cathedral of Learning / Nationality Rooms
Carnegie Museum
Dave & Andy’s Ice Cream
Lawrenceville - trendy neighborhood with lots of nightlife, restaurants, bars and shops
The Frick - Mansion that was owned by the Frick family that features an art museum and antique car museum

Go to Pittsburgh. LSU fans are hoodlums and like you said, who knows when we'll play Pitt again.

I’ve been to LSU, and just like us, they have a lot of great fans and a few turds. I had a great experience despite it being the “half the team on the field” Dooley game.

You will never beat an SEC game day experience anywhere else in the country. Just find the quality fans and ignore the turds.

If hooker had started that whole game we win by two tds. Giving Pitt too much credit

Of those two options I would absolutely be going to Death Valley. That atmosphere has to be so cool.

I will say though, I would only want to go there if it were a night game. An 11AM kickoff there would be lame.

I’ve been to Tiger Stadium for day games vs Ga, Ala & ND and it still doesn’t compare to Sat night vs Ole Miss or Miss St. That stadium clearly has two personalities.
