Official Jon Gruden Thread XLVI

I disagree on the first one. I think the boosters not named Haslam believed the Gruden deal was done. AV said there is a clear plan and another plan beyond the first plan. I hold strong that the clear plan was the 5 year plan and the plan beyond was the 10 year plan. That's why I think some wouldn't be comfortable with it. I think the boosters thought this was settled at BlackBerry farm weeks ago.

I hope that Peyton helped hang the Haslams. I don't know that he did, but I certainly hope he did.

I always enjoy talking with you as well.

:)

Thanks, and never remember what type of engineer you are but remember a post about Nuclear, you might know my dad if you are in that field :)

Thanks for all your posts and info and insights and here's to you! :good!:  :clapping:

I try not to say anything bad about anyone but she looked rough like she hadn’t slept in days.

With Currie at the head it’s understandable now

She looked like the wrath of VolNation was more than she could take. My heart ached for her.

I'm no nuc! I'm an industrial engineer. Our thermodynamics classes were nuclear thermo, and Dr. Bill Snyder was my professor. He was also the chancellor at the time. He was kind, genuine, and he absolutely loved the university of Tennessee.

Fulmer basically said Tee Martin is going to be
head coach Vols.

I'll be honest, I've haven't watched USC play much until last night, watched most of the game as I was curious about the offense scheme as directed by Tee. 1st thing, a good quarterback and decent offensive line can make any coach look good. 2nd, yes coaches are critical, more so in game management and leadership, however I've never seen a "great" coach do well with sub-par talent.

Backstory, years ago I coached a summer baseball travel team. We were very good and everyone thought I was a phenomenal baseball coach. From that team, 2 guys are currently in the minors (drafted out of High School) I had 6 players play at SEC baseball programs, 2 players ended up playing college football at mid level D1 schools and 4 players play college baseball at smaller D1 programs. Point being I'm a average baseball coach but had GREAT talent.

After watching USC last night and this is no knock on Tee, starting your career as a HC at a Power 5 school is risky business for the coach and school. UT is in no position to take "risks" as mentioned in the presser (subtly), a proven HC is needed at this point and time, hence Gruden!

I''d love for Tee to be our OC under the leadership of Gruden, if thats the scenario, I have no issue with Tee having the title HC in waiting. Lets be honest, if JG came to UT, his shelf life leading the helm is probably 5-6 years and by that time Tee would be ready to roll with a big time program.

Fulmer at the helm is a true blessing right now, he's the only one who could have stabilized the program, my hats off to CPF for stepping up and commanding the ship. OT

I’m still astonished how the national media is portraying us- just a s dumb, irrational fans.
No one sees the BIG picture. Several great articles out there, to include our very Miss Celina Summers blog, about the real fight.

And not one has picked up on the real reVOLt.

VolNarion has made history!!! I’m so proud.

Exactly if this uprising results in getting us a good coach and back to a tradition of winning, the volnation will make the “12th man” look like a needle in a haystack!
One is good but an orange flood of volnation fans is a force to behild
Good morning! I said it’s great to be a Tennessee

Good morning all. :hi: Hope all is well with everyone.
I have a favor to ask the insiders ... if you could get everyone to speed up this process, I might be able to save my job. Luckily being a Control Systems Engineer, I have an excuss to be in front of my computer, but my productivity has fallen off.

I enjoy this thread, I like the fellowship found here, and I love the Vols!

If its not Gruden, this is smart. IMO.

The best way to finish Haslam is the following imo

Fulmer rights the ship and hands it to Blackburn in 2
Miles grooms Tee for the SEC and retires after a given time

Haslam will have no choice but to leave the university.

Right there he says “ somebody that has been a head coach”.
Again to me that excludes Tee

I doubt he’d take a lateral move but if he were OC for Gruden and “coach I’m waiting” I think we would have the perfect storm.
I think it’s what Gruden wants as well ( admittedly knowing nothing- but merely what I’ve surmised)

Sobe, I think that swings the pendulum too far in the other direction.

You have to take the entire context of the quote, don't leave parts out. "More times than not...." That doesn't mean always.

Phil is just leaving his options open while giving us a glimpse at his early thoughts.

He is not ruling Tee in, or ruling him out, as a candidate.

Agreed!
But if Tee where at TN being groomed by Gruden to take over when he leaves...
what a win for everyone, including Tee.
Pipe dream I know

It’s like being on Price Is Right and Gruden is Bob Barker and Tee is Drew Carey. Just give him the keys to the Porsche and let’s ride.

Rocky Top Revolt: The Real Story (Part 2: The Administration) - Last Word on College Football

That explains it, without even needing to mention Gruden.

Short answer: Haslam puppet. Haslam wanted Schiano.
He has now put out Part 3 which among other things talks about social media and our twitter guru's :)

Rocky Top Revolt: The Real Story (Part 3: The False National Narrative and the Impact of Social Media)

*a small portion of article....
Part 3: A False Narrative

Call it the tweet that sparked a revolt. When USA Today’s Dan Wolken broke the story that Tennessee was set to hire Ohio State’s Greg Schiano last Sunday, it sparked an unprecedented social media backlash from fans that included Tennessee state political leaders and local businesses. It also ignited a curious fierce back-and-forth between media members with a national voice and the regional voices of Tennessee fans and Knoxville media. These reactions and competing narratives signal some important observations and lessons learned about the national media and the contemporary sports journalism environment.

I don’t have a whole lot of faith that Phil is going to make a good hire here, especially after he was in on Doeren. I am glad that Phil has taken over though. I’m hoping that they at least take the football program in the right direction, even if that means hiring Tee, who I don’t think would be a great coach here. I don’t want to have to run off Tee when he fails, but I’m willing to try it. I still think we have to try at gruden, but again, not much faith to get anything big done.

If you really want the answer go back and read, everything.

Someone posted yesterday for the first time that Atlanta's posts about a plan A and B, and that maybe the plans were A Haslam plays ball, and B, he doesn't.

It was the first post I saw that took the words for a different meaning, ie plan b was another coach.

Brilliant. I think the original Atlanta post is gone, so I haven't re-read it. But, it makes a lot of sense, and the news that broke Monday of the MOU on Friday the 24th and meeting for the 26th to sign, the CBS release before the USA today piece, to finalize is when HOH went and did hat he did. And, I truly believe Manning was the catalyst for HOH to hang himself and was one of the truest Volunteers in all of this, not a "traitor".

If you really want an answer, go ahead and cancel your weekend and go back and read everything from about 16th or 17th on, or

wait and see what announcement comes out.
Agree 100% I believe Peyton worked with Fulmer, giving Currie the rope to put around his neck.
Again opinion: Cleveland is not something Manning would get near in a million scenarios. It's a bottomless pit and is only going to get worse. Dee Haslam is essentially running that operation.

You are closer to my age than my dad's:) as he was the chancellor while I attended, and Snyder was a good one no doubt, the suspenders lol.

BTW, your grammar and english are too good for an engineer lol.

Yes, with all the ups and down over the last couple of months. The body could no longer contain the emotion and they were released. I felt tears in seeing Davenports' realization that this is truly a place like no other. Looking at her face, you could see the hell she has went through. Then again, with Fulmer, the pride and love he has for the University was enough to bring any grown man to tears.

Davenport looked scared to me, maybe I'm wrong. I think she's in over her head, in this Athletics arena anyway.

Hahaha...my grandmother taught English for 40 years. There was little room for grammatical error.

Ain't gonna lie, hearing all the stuff that's been said lately, especially the Schiano backing, has been a sidebar of epic disappointing proportions.

I still makes absolutely no sense why he would side with Haslam for a few $$ and ruin his legacy and name in Tennessee
