Agreed!
But if Tee where at TN being groomed by Gruden to take over when he leaves...
what a win for everyone, including Tee.
Pipe dream I know

Don't know how good a fit it would but it's what I'd LOVE to see so it's not just your pipe dream. You got company. :)

I’m still astonished how the national media is portraying us- just a s dumb, irrational fans.
No one sees the BIG picture. Several great articles out there, to include our very Miss Celina Summers blog, about the real fight.

And not one has picked up on the real reVOLt.

At least one journalist has.

Rocky Top Revolt: The Real Story (Part 2: The Administration) - Last Word on College Football

This guy has.

Hopefully the national media will eventually catch on. But if not, water off our back. Doesn't pay to care too much what others think about us. We just keep doing the right things for the right reasons, being the best University community and state we can be, and the rest will come in time.

Simple question that I would like to know .....was Gruden ever contacted? I don’t think so. Ever.

You question needs more clarification. Yes he was contacted. No, if wasn’t from Currie in a formal aspect.

Gruden was delivered and the package wasn’t signed for.

I think she was at a cross roads.
Felt VN rise up whether it be in emails, tweets, or calls
Then chose the right road.

I agree. It would be a hard decision to make knowing that your boss is the governor and you are going against his brother. You are finding yourself between a rock and a hard place. Only people with strong character make the right choice at that time.

Tee would get eaten alive. Not qualified, blind resume and you would laugh at the thought of hiring him. There a reason no other school he even given him a look, but wait... he played QB at UT in 98! Logic.

vol_in_ga found and shared the link of this article in another thread of the football forum:

Rocky Top Revolt: The Real Story (Part 2: The Administration) - Last Word on College Football

Dynamite read!

The first journalist I've seen who has taken the time to truly understand the currents flowing around the events of the past few weeks. Really worth reading, if only to appreciate a good investigative journalist's work.

Just re-tweeted, along with Part 1.

I think.

Good Morning Volnation,

Yesterday was a great day with Phil being named AD. I now feel we have hope to get the ship righted and back where we belong in the SEC. UT and Tennessee in general is truly a special place. There is a reason it's called the volunteer state and I think both Haslam and Currie forgot that and found out real quick what that statement means.

I'm am truly honored to be among the most passionate fans and citizens in the world. I am very, very proud of Tennessee people who are truly special and I have never felt so proud in my life to be a Tennessean myself born and raised in Chattanooga and my parents and sister still live in Ooltewah. As always even though I live in South Florida for last 25 years for work, I will always wear my power T and orange colors with pride!

Never ever change Vol fans with being passionate because this is what makes and breaks UT and not only UT but the whole State of Tennessee.

Ya'll guys are awesome so now let's go get a coach and get some 4 and 5 star recruits coming in and kick some SEC a%$ and take back our rightful place in the SEC!

CeJay

SFD's right, there's nothing in that pointing at Tee. You can make the case that Phil is leaving the door open for the possibility of hiring a coordinator rather than a sitting head coach, but that still leaves a lot of terrain open that doesn't have Tee Martin standing on it.

Realistically, is Phil considering Tee as one of the people he wants to consider? Absolutely. He wouldn't be Phil Fulmer if he didn't. But don't mistake that for a conclusion that Tee's his primary focus at this point.

Way early for that. Right now he's still coming up with a game plan, and a timeline, and a realistic list of candidates.

Unfortunately, when I originally heard that statement from the presser, my first thought was that he was referencing Kevin Steele.

If there truly was a power struggle to loosen the Haslam grasp (I am positive that there was), the new regime HAS to hit a homerun with this hire. Otherwise, all of the inroads that have been made in the last few days will be ceded back to the Haslams. There has to be proof that there are better decision makers than the Haslam.
There is no doubt that the new sheriffs in town realize this. I have nothing against Tee, but this is why he will not be the next HC.

I think you can drop Ergen out of the list. Seems like Anderson and Thornton were the two main players in the Anti-Haslam camp of big boosters.

So the best interpretation I've been able to come up with (and this is all rumor and speculation) is that Anderson and Thornton took it upon themselves, before Butch was even fired perhaps, to start lining up Gruden. They likely told Currie what they were up to, and he probably gave them a "sure, whatever, go ahead" kind of response. He may even have given them a member of the AD staff to take with them for legitimacy.

Meanwhile, Currie already has his marching orders from Jimmy Haslam: to go after Schiano. He probably knows it won't be a very popular choice, so he keeps his moves secret.

And it all comes to a head last Sunday, when the competing approaches run into one another as word leaks Currie is about to sign Schiano. That's when the Anderson-Thornton team realize they've been a sideshow (from Currie's perspective).

That's how I'm reading the tea leaves, anyway.

Do you all think Bev would have signed the Schiano contract? Or did it just need Currie's signature?

I think we are all so used to needing to read between the lines that we have a hard time taking someone's words at face value.

Phil was simply saying that there isn't a set template for a head coach.

Ain't gonna lie, hearing all the stuff that's been said lately, especially the Schiano backing, has been a sidebar of epic disappointing proportions.

Why are you being irrational, Behr?

Peyton could be doing what we all hope (and I believe), challenging the HOC (cards) and blew that s*** down with his "backing" of Schiano. Y'all need to calm down and take a break. Peyton doesn't need Haslam for a thing, why sell his soul and alienate the millions who love him and played a part in getting him to where he is today?

VolNarion has made history!!! I’m so proud.

Good morning! I said it’s great to be a Tennessee VOL!

Mainstream sports journalism just got a glimpse of the future. They can no longer manipulate the masses w/ calculated, and paid for, either directly or indirectly, yellow journalism. Social media's tentacles are getting longer and deeper in revealing the man behind the curtain.

With that comes danger, though, and we need to continue to learn to separate the wheat from the trolls.

"I'm hearing Hargraves has decided to become a Cane. Considering both programs, it is probably a wise choice. I believe the embarrassing fan base played a huge role in his decision."

Do you all think Bev would have signed the Schiano contract? Or did it just need Currie's signature?

Word is, these contracts all typically have four signatures, and aren't formally concluded without:
  • New hire
  • AD
  • Chancellor
  • University chief financial officer
The Schiano MOU had only the first two, it has been reported.

As for whether Bev would've signed when Currie got back to Knoxville with the document, if VolNation hadn't risen up in protest...well, we will never know. And I'm not sure at this point that it is worth speculating over. Can't see it doing us any good.

Go Vols!

I have an overwhelming feeling she’s on our side through this ride and will bend over backward for Phil

I don’t have a whole lot of faith that Phil is going to make a good hire here, especially after he was in on Doeren. I am glad that Phil has taken over though. I’m hoping that they at least take the football program in the right direction, even if that means hiring Tee, who I don’t think would be a great coach here. I don’t want to have to run off Tee when he fails, but I’m willing to try it. I still think we have to try at gruden, but again, not much faith to get anything big done.

It’s called the power of the people and dont be fooled, Coach has heard the voices as well. I have renewed hope / interest that we will at least take into account what has transpired over the last week. There is power in numbers...

Today would be the perfect day for the perfect storm to shut up opposing fans, national media , and certain boosters !!!! Soon....no. TODAY !!!!
