The AD should have the power to step in when needed.

An AD is not going to have the knowledge of the game of football to make staffing decisions. As long as the coach is within the football team's budget, the decision should be his. Hart said himself that the coach makes the decisions and is then held responsible for such decisions. You can't expect a coach to put a winning team on the field if the AD is making staffing decisions.

:good!::good!::good!:STOOPS STOOPS Stoopinators will rise......Get on the phone Mr Hart and do your job before your pink slip arrives....

i disagree he did alot to improve it, you'd be amazed at just how bad things were....logistically he was a very good coach.....but come game time....maybe not so much.....but if you don't get the logistics off the field stuff fixed, you can't even began to build......

Oh i agree if he stayed we would continue to hurt, we might get a little better, but likely not where we want. I'm just saying logistically he did improve things, and the program is in much better shape for the next coach then it was for him, and again the calibre of coach we want would never have taken the mess this program was in.

Think of it this way his hard work is part of the reason we might get gruden now. He laid something down someone like that is willing to build on.

On hiring and firing Assistant coaches??

I totally disagree

Same here. Not saying it would have made much of a difference , but Dooley was forced to keep people from the previous staff when he got here. Could be they are trying to force Jon to do the same. We have so many new coaches this year. I could see them trying to keep them around and avoid paying them off , instead of hiring coaches Jon actually wants.

Just a thought...read some chatter about Bo Pelini earlier. Nebraska played today. It could be him IF this is all true. Maybe just an interview, who knows anymore.

The AD has the ultimate control in hiring assistants, since the amount of money being paid has to be approved by the AD. While Hart did not hire Sal, rest assured that he approved the amount being paid to him (for which he needs to ask for forgiveness).

Maybe hart thinks he's Jerry jones and we see how that works!!! Ad just needs to worry about NCAA rules and soccer!

I asked about this and my friend said he would try to get more specifics. One thing he thinks is a factor is the head coach being able to hire assistants without getting approval from either hart or cheek.

Also commented that hart tends to be somewhat of a control freak himself.

Then that differs from what Hart said at the press conference Sunday...said he only met with potential assistants at HC's request..

We still good with Gruden Hannibal?

Disagree. Hart is not a football coach, Gruden is. If assistants are bringing down the team, a smart head coach knows it and would make changes to fix the problems.

A head coach doesn't need the AD breathing down his neck on all of his decisions. He needs that freedom to make decisions and execute his own strategies.

um no.

Sumlin for one wanted the job.

If he would have come, he could have maybe taken it eventually to where we want. I like him. That said if he had come, he'd be the one getting canned right now. Short of General Neyland himself taking over I think most coaches would have a piss poor record at this point inheriting that mess.
