Any specific thoughts on what we aren't willing to give him control of?

Cheek and Hart demand to call plays on both side of the ball during the Bama and Florida games. Dooley was fine with this because he had no idea what the hell was going on. Chaney wasn't for this. Sal thought it was "like anything else". Gruden don't play that ****.

Whoaaa, Nellie, that flies in the face of what Hart said with his own lips.

If that is what's behind this post then I don't think there is anyway its credable. No AD in the SEC is going to force a newly hired HC to run his assistant hires past him.

Ya know I really get tired of the pile on DD. It's not classy, it's ignorant of the truth, and it's just mean.

Is he the level of coach we wanted? No.

Would any coach we wanted have taken the Lane train wreck he did? NO NO!

When DD got here it was practically Lord of the Flies, I mean when you got to start out with personal hygiene you got a ways to go. There was literally a bunch of kids that had NO discipline or order for awhile...

He restored order, he also recruited unexpectantly well considering his lack of background at this level. The reality check is whomever we hire will have a much easier time getting the program up and going because of his hard work laying at least a foundation to build on, where as Kiffin left a smoking infested hole......

Was he a great head coach? maybe not up to SEC standards yet, but someday he might be, and I think he could still do very well at lower ranks, he was just out of his league....he basically took a job that no one else wanted, and no one anyone here would be happy with would have taken.....when we were in a hole he helped.....he couldn't take it to the next level so he loses the job, but really piling on him as if he is remotely the cause of this mess I think is unfair......he DID leave this program in better shape then it was in, regardless of what current win loss record shows, and now Gruden can come in and not have an empty barn, with a few maltreated fungal incrusted players that Kiffin turned this place into.

Maybe he did walk into a bad situation but as a coach he did nothing to improve it and repeatedly made poor decisions during the games! You have to agree with that. And if he had stayed 5 more years he would still have never improved the program he is not a skilled coach of the caliber required in the SEC, and we do agree on that but he had to go because we suffered for it. When Dooley signed the contract it was to do a job that he didn't do. If he wasn't able to perfom he should have walked away. He knew what he was getting in to and yes I blame him. It was his JOB to turn this thing around.

Let me be the first to say I believe Hart is a much smarter and brighter AD than Hamilton by a country mile. Hiring Gruden is only going to make Hart look good and Hart will get his share of credit. I think in the end Gruden is the coach of the TENNESSEE VOLUNTEERS!!! GO VOLS!!! WE WANT YOU JON GRUDEN!!!

There are Squirrels stuffing nuts in the trees on the hill who would make a better AD then Hamilton. But yeah I have no reason to dislike Hart...he seems good so far.

I would agree. Based off what has been posted by the OGs, there have been some hurdles that have had to be cleared along the way and the OGs have said they all have been cleared. The OGs have posted a lot of this kind of info along the way.

Also, I find it hard to believe you would court Gruden and not think he would want less than 100% control. If you are willing to pay nearly $11 million per year combined to the HC and assistants, I find it hard to believe you would let this crap stop the deal from being done.

Jay, Boro, DTO, OV, Y4B, SBV, and Slice all seem to be a step ahead all of the time.

Exactly my thoughts. It would be one thing for the AD to want it but another thing altogether to publicly state that that was the responsibility of the coach and then privately have a say in who he hires.

Now I feel real stupid. I really wanted to hear the difference.

I didn't mean anything by it. Just your "doubting Thomas" personality, that questions every detail.

But. If you were a contractor and I needed work done, I would hire you. Because I believe that the job would be perfect. :hi:

I posted earlier that hiring all staff and budget decsions are the only control issues I can think of. If we can't give any coach that then we will have to settle for a very poor choice.

It's one thing to allow the coach to make those decisions and another to sign it over in a binding contract. I wouldn't want Hart to do that personally.

Slice drilled the 18 mil from Cheek like the day before it was made public.

I disagree he did ALOT to improve it, you'd be amazed at just how bad things were....logistically he was a very good coach.....but come game time....maybe not so much.....but if you don't get the logistics off the field stuff fixed, you can't even began to build......

Oh I agree if he stayed we would continue to hurt, we might get a little better, but likely not where we want. I'm just saying logistically he did improve things, and the program is in much better shape for the next coach then it was for him, and again the calibre of coach we want would NEVER have taken the mess this program was in.

Think of it this way his hard work is part of the reason we might get Gruden now. He laid something down someone like that is willing to build on.
