Believe me, at most universities, if the coach tries to hire Opie Taylor, the AD will vito. It's a safegaurd I hope ours keeps.

I may be wrong but I believe Hart wants this kind of stuff out there to appear he is in full control of everything. He wants to look strong and doesn't want to appear to be rolling over but I believe he will (has). I sincerely doubt Hart would veto giving Gruden the same control Saban has. Think about it. The big money has set him up to do something no recent NFL GM or any other AD has been able to do - hire Jon Gruden. His status as an AD will elevate immediately.

iI mean, our last coach completely changed the shade of orange, and the new complex. I know that I ain't the sharpest tool in the drawer, but that sounds like a fair bit of control to me.

Me too my man. It's just that several media are on the other side also. Personally, I'd be thrilled with the hire. I'm on the fence on believing though. Hope you guys are right. Like I said, some have stuck their necks out, not that that's hard on a message board, but they will be blasted if wrong at this point.

Hart has enough on his plate as AD for all sports than to be occupied with the hiring and firing of assistants. Gruden is a superbowl winning coach he doesn't need anyone else making them decisions. I am sure there are safeguards for extreme emergency type situations that hardly ever arise but as far as who his assistants are I see know way that they are going to have a problem with Gruden making that call. I don't believe Hart would have any problem with that, if he does many may have a problem with hart. But again I think Hart knows full well what he is doing. GO VOLS!! WE WANT CHUCKY!!:rock:

Same here. Not saying it made much of a difference , but Dooley was forced to keep people from the previous staff when he got here. Could be they are trying to force Jon to do the same. We have so many new coaches this year. I could seem them trying to keep them around and avoid paying them off , and hiring coaches Jon actually wants.

If this the case then they should have just kept Dooley.. If I am a veteran, highly sought after coach I would never except terms like these.. I would have the freedom to select my own staff or you can kiss my a$$..

This HAS to have allready been dealt with.. If there is a snag (I don't believe there is one) it has to be something other than control of staff decisions such as being layden with existing coaches...
